I've now had the pleasure of experiencing 3 of the MNS scents; Pine & Cedarwood, Orange/Cedarwood/Pepper, & Peppermint & Rosemary. Each one is unique, well balanced, & add another dimension to my shaving experience.
Mike answered all of my questions quickly & thoroughly. His sample sizes are generous allowing you several shaves to determine your own thoughts. The tins are a nice touch as I wasn't sure how I was going to store the bar shape. The tin fits in seamlessly with the rest of my Nook.
So let's see, the scents are transcendent, Mike is great to do business with, what else is there? Oh yeah, the lather! MNS lathers splendidly. For a hard soap it loads easily producing a creamy, slick lather with great cushion & glide. Many compare it to MWF & that is warranted as the shave result & postshave skin conditioning are excellent. MNS trumps MWF in ease of lathering, though along with providing multiple scents.
MNS will be a part of my Nook for as long as possible.

SS,
I'm not familiar with this soap. But it sounds like I need to try some samples. I'll Google it.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Yeah, I guess I should have put a link... www.mikesnaturalsoaps.comHe bills his soaps as "Tallow, Lanolin, and Kokum butter" here are the rest of the ingredients... Ingredients: Distilled water; saponified tallow and stearic acid; vegetable glycerin; saponified kokum butter, avocado oil, and shea butter; lanolin, fragrance and/or essential oil(s); saponified coconut oil; kaolin clay, vitamin E.

Brian, I was PIFed a bar of Mikes Mint/rosemary, and while I was about bowled over from the scent before and after mashing it into the bowl, it toned down to something my nose really liked in the form of lather. The lather was pretty incredible too. I like it.
I can't help but describe it as an "Old time " soap because it's just soap w/o a lot of additives. I have no idea why it works as well as it does, but it does.
Question though... yours was a hard soap? Mine was like extremely stiff plumbers putty; maybe putty at 32°F, that stiff. It was malleable enough to ram into a puck shape in the bottom of a lidded bowl.
Hmmm, I just got a wild idea... If it's a "real soap" if I remember real soap making it hardens as it ages. So I went back to the bar that was so maleable 2 weeks or so ago and it's a lot harder today. Maybe I got a fresh one that didn't have time to harden yet.

OK, put in an order last night. Of course SWMBO had to get several bath bars too. I let her pick the scent so she thought it was her idea! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

I'm currently testing a Veggie formulation from Mike. The scent is Oakmoss & Sandalwood and it smells amazing. It has great balance and isn't overpowering. Last night and this morning I test lathered it with 3 very different brushes; Muhle Black Fibre, Simpson Commodore X2, & Semogue 830 which isn't broken in yet. You'll notice a difference in the pictures (I much prefer natural light) and I apologize for the one that's really blurry. Test Lathers: 1. Muhle Black Fibre - 7s load 2. Simpson Commodore X2 - 10s load 3. Semogue 830 - 10s load
