Okay wchnu , since you commented on it once on one of my threads, what do you do to keep rust from developing on Treet carbon steel blades like the ones you sent to me?

Okay Fuzzy, since you commented on it once on one of my threads, what do you do to keep rust from developing on Treet carbon steel blades like the ones you sent to me? For the one in use dry it after use. Dry the razor too. Keep the unused blades out of the humid bathroom. No need for super special storage. I keep mine mostly in my bedroom in a drawer. I do not worry about spots on the flat of a blade. As long as not on the edge. As long as I do not store in a hunid area I have no problems.

I do similar to wchnu, I dry them after use, and the wipe with a towel. I keep them on a shelf in the bedroom as well. As fuzzy said, rust on the flats, usually no problems. I worry about the edge, and if the rust is flaking off, that may compromise the strength of the metal. Although, if it is that bad, I think I may as well just buy a new blade.

Thanks guys, the rust that I have observed is a line where the top contacts with the blade it is just a thin line there but I thought "hey if it shows up there it might get to the cutting edge too."
So now I know what to do.

Very good advice to store unused carbon blades out of the bathroom! Carbon blades are not easy to get here and I just wasted 2 packs of Treets by doing exactly that.

I guess any oil will work from olive to 10W 30 if ya wanted to really lube things up, but I think keeping them out of moisture pre and post shave is the soundest advice.
Thanks guys!👍👍✌

Thanks, I enjoy the camaraderie and the banter is cool too, besides many people think our hobby should not be a hobby since they view shaving as nothing more than self grooming, and recklessly do it with a can of Barbasol and a multi-blade mince meat making machine and dread every painful minute of the ordeal... if they would only listen
