The hole was for a small ball detent to help secure the cap. When I put it together the first time, I found the right tolerances suffices to hold it.
Looking forward to your reviews. It would be great to get your comparison of all 3 of my razors. The good, bad and ugly.

It would be great to get your comparison of all 3 of my razors. The good, bad and ugly. OK. I can see how that would have worked. My first shave will have to wait until tomorrow. I didn't expect the TNNSER to arrive today (tracking claimed it had just left Portugal) so I had a really close shave with the Hussy yesterday - one of those where you don't need to shave the next day. I will give an honest opinion on that new weirdly named razor. I had issues with Igor and you know how much I love my Bunnies.

First impressions after the first shave: This is a gorgeous little device. I had a fantastic shave. I used a fairly shallow angle and I'm not sure the roller even came in contact with my skin. I need to pay more attention to it, but I think the same razor with a regular guard would shave the same. The roller looks very good though. I had a few problems re-assembling the razor after I gave it a good rinse after the shave. I managed without self-harming, but I might need my glasses for that procedure. I think the cutout for the spine is a bit too deep and the edge of the blade can lift up a bit, making assembly awkward. After closer inspection, I'm sure that's what happened. The handle's curvature is interesting and makes it look quite unique, again I'm not sure it adds to the shave. I'd probably prefer a longer handle - I use a very long 96mm stainless steel handle on my 1912. The razor doesn't make any of that silly "buttering toast" noise we all know from vintage razors with modern blades. No blade flutter - that's how it should be. Further thoughts later.

Nice report.
You got me thinking. I will redesign with only the head. Then you can add whatever handle you like.

Nice report. Glad you did it without self-harming. Now you got Tom thinking. Haha me thinking can be dangerous😈 You got me thinking as well. I've come up with a brilliant modification for the head, but have no idea how to properly describe it or if it is a good and/or workable idea at all. Yet. But it all makes sense in my head - if I try not to think about details. I might make a short video for you Tom and describe my idea and you then tell me that I'm nuts. I've been especially intrigued by this notch thing here: What's it for? It will help me immensely in demonstrating my idea.

The notch is only there to make clearance for the Blade. The cutter radius kept the blade from seating.
Looking forward to your idea.

Here's a short video demonstrating my "idea" for the TNSSER: razors.click/storagebox/shaving/TNNSER/pivot/Cool, but probably not possible (the magic that needs to happen at the front of the head is unclear) Another idea to drop in the cap from the top and then slide it only a short distance seems more feasible. I'll have another shave with this thought-provoking device later.

Nice report. You got me thinking. I will redesign with only the head. Then you can add whatever handle you like. What type of handle? A modern unmentionable handle would require a thread coming out of the head. Vintage handles with thread on the handle are aesthetically more pleasing, but what thread would you use? And not everyone would have such a handle. I'd recommend a #10-32 hole in the head and a #10-32 grub screw. That way one could use at least some vintage handles (1912, some 1924, Valet) and all modern handles (which are mostly M5x0.8, but that's close enough to #10-32 if the grub screw is not too long)

The second shave with the Tannhäuser was interesting. It started out really rough, then I remembered that I had removed the blade, played with the razor, reinserted the blade at least 20 times since the last shave. I think the blade was not happy about how I treated it. A fresh blade fixed the issue. I did the first shave at a very shallow angle, riding the cap - as I do. I didn't feel the roller during that shave. For the second shave, I decided to increase the angle until the roller came into play. That's not how I like to shave, but I gave it a go. I expected the razor to be very aggressive, but it wasn't. I don't know why, because I think the angle is a bit steep - 40 degrees? The roller gave a peculiar sensation that I quite liked. It was quite easy to roll the razor around the chin. I need to get over the urge to right the cap, but I will persist. Another good shave with whatever it's called. There will be more.
