The second shave with the Tannhäuser was interesting. It started out really rough, then I remembered that I had removed the blade, played with the razor, reinserted the blade at least 20 times since the last shave. I think the blade was not happy about how I treated it. A fresh blade fixed the issue. I did the first shave at a very shallow angle, riding the cap - as I do. I didn't feel the roller during that shave. For the second shave, I decided to increase the angle until the roller came into play. That's not how I like to shave, but I gave it a go. I expected the razor to be very aggressive, but it wasn't. I don't know why, because I think the angle is a bit steep - 40 degrees? The roller gave a peculiar sensation that I quite liked. It was quite easy to roll the razor around the chin. I need to get over the urge to right the cap, but I will persist. Another good shave with whatever it's called. There will be more. I think when using SE blades there is a very wide margin for angle to shave with. Especially when the blade is fully supported. If one truly uses a light touch.

I've had two more shaves with the THINGSER. I won't go into details yet. Enough to say that they were good shaves. A thought about the handle instead: I like the handle. It's distinctive and unique. I wouldn't want to use it all the time or at least have the option to use a different handle. That got me thinking (we all know that's a dangerous thing). If the handle was secured to the head by a #10-32 screw going through the base plate from the top, it could be removed and any modern handle attached to that screw. If the screw was removed from the base plate, a vintage SE handle with a #10-32 thread could be attached to the head.
Then again: the handle is fine as it is. The bottom could look a bit more like that of a DeHaven for more elegance. The Bunny has the same issue - you can't change the handle. Do I care? Not at all.

So have you had anymore shaves? What is your verdict? I had several. One more shave today, then I'm done. Got the address, got a box. Final thoughts after that. Let me just say that I find it hard to let go.

The TaNNhäuSER experience - a summary
It is with a heavy heart that I have passed on the razor with the strange name. I have mentioned a few things before: Blade loading is awkward, but I think Tom now has a few ideas on how to improve that. I still like the idea of the top plate "somehow" pivoting at the front of the head. I understand that "somehow" is a problem. I love the handle. If Tom allows for an interchangeable handle, I hope that the default will be a handle like the current one. Slightly longer, maybe with slightly less curvature and a more artistic bottom. I know there could be an issue with the current handle being roughly rectangular where it meets the head and other handles being round, but I'm sure Tom knows how to handle that - even I can see several solutions. In short: don't change the handle. It's great, unique and distinctive. Allow for changing the handle, but please, leave something similar to the current one as the default. The shaves were all pleasant and efficient. I was torn between riding the cap, but not having contact with the roller and riding the roller, but then the angle was a bit steeper than I like. I would like to see the roller a tiny bit higher up, so it engages at a shallower angle. This is not a problem with the razor. It's a problem with my urge to ride the cap. I ended up doing some areas riding the cap and some riding the roller. A roller that is "somehow" adjustable would be great. Yes... I know... My favourite feature is that satisfying click you get when moving the cap forward. I don't know why, but I really like that. Finally, let me give you my thoughts about the three razors made by Tom that I have tried. The Bunny is in a class of its own. I love almost everything about it. The mild, wild and notso plates still make me smile, although I only ever use one. This razor will always have a special place in my heart. I don't think anyone has had more shaves with a Bunny than I have. It's part of the triumvirate of razors: The Hussy, the Bunny and the 1912 are the three razors I go back to again and again. The Bunny is in the same class as those design classics. I had my issues with Igor. It forced me to use a steeper angle than I normally would. The adjustment mechanism is genius, but I didn't get enough benefit from it. I'm not the biggest fan of adjustable razors. Igor is a competent shaver, but somehow we never clicked. The TNNSER, however, is a razor I really like. With a few tweaks, it could be a razor I would use again and again. Easier blade loading, roller engaging at a shallower angle, interchangeable handle with almost the same handle as the current one as a default - that's all I'm asking for. Thanks, Tom for another stunning razor. Thanks, Jim for organising this pass around. Thanks, everyone for reading my ramblings.

Ok I have thought about riverrun comments. I will start with riding the cap. This is a very popular way of shaving. I for one try to have only the blade touching my face. But this will also have the guard or roller in this instance touching the face. The way razors are designed the blade sits proud from the cap and the guard (roller). This being the case it will be very difficult to have all three. Three being cap, Blade, & guard be in contact with your skin. One must decide as to what they prefere. Cap and blade or blade and roller. They both work fine. That being said it would be very difficult to try and get the geometry correct to get all three working together. As for the great idea you had for blade loading. I will redesign the razor cap to make that happen. I will also make it with just the head, so other handles can be used. Yes I can probably make the existing handle design removable. Not like you are asking for much😁. In all seriousness though. I have found your observations and suggestions to be very helpful. Now all I need is some free time at work to try and sneak I. The design changes and make a few up. This razor would actually be an easy one to get mass produced compared to The Bunny. Looking forward to what everybody else thinks. All suggestions and complaints welcome. Tom

I'm not asking for three-point contact roller/blade/cap, just the roller kicking in at a shallower angle. But at the end of the day that is just my personal preference. Cap-blade and roller-blade contact are too far apart for my very own personal liking. Others might like that. Whatever you do redesigning the cap - don't lose that click. I looooove that click. The handle is one of two things that make the razor stand out visually. The other is the roller. Non-visually, there is that click. Have I mentioned the click? It makes me as happy as a 1912 shutting with its satisfying clack.
I just thought of a name and a third visual stand-out-from-the-crowd feature... Engrave a sunray pattern on the cap and call it the Sunny-Bunny.
