After waiting for som time on it I finally got a hold of my Grandads Surrey brush,. it is not in the best shape but is still very useable. He passed away 4 years ago in June. It is great having another family brush to use.

IMO it's pretty neat to be able to use gear that's been passed down.

My Dad's Dubl Duc straight is what got me started on my wet shave adventure. Sweet brush!

Getting something shave related from a relative is just so cool, congratulations. I've got two Surreys, one white and the other one blue, and they are actually pretty good brushes.

When i picked it up I thought it might shed to death. After losing a few bristles it settled down fine. It worked good for the first lather.

That is awesome!! I really have no where left to look for any vintage shave stuff. My dad left an early 80s astra - what can I say. I do remember him shaving with d/e razors half a century ago - but it is kind of fuzzy. So thats it for me. The rest is out in the ether.
Unfortunately, I have Astra mixed up with two others. : / The three amigos now I guess : )

Very cool to have your Dad's old brush... I think my Dad my have used a brush way back before I was old enough to know what was going on but the only actual memories I have of him shaving are of him using a bright silver Gillette TTO along with the shaving stuff in the can and I think some Gillette Blades that were dark blue almost black colored. I wish he was around so I could ask him if he ever used SE's

Congratulations, Fuzzy! Shaving with one's father's and grandfather's gear is a great experience.

super cool fuzzmaster, my G-paw passed back in March and helping my Gmaw go through his things I came across 2 DE's and a Vulfix with a clear acrylic handle, among vintage aftershaves etc..... . Needless to say, all that came home with me. Even if we dont use the items of dearly departed family, its just beyond special to keep them in the family. Nice work sir.

I got hold of my father-in-laws brush, straight razor and mug some time ago. Never did much with it until I got back into traditional wet shaving.
The razor is kinda beyond hope as it needs a good sharpening and an old barber from my town looked at it and said to just keep it as keepsake and not a user.
The mug, well it is more like a coffee cup than a big shave mug. It sits in a curio cabinet with the razor.
But the brush, well the knot was shot. Most likely from sitting around for more than 50 years. He was killed in a mine accident when my wife was 3 years old. But the handle was in great shape for a brush that old. So I had it refurbed with a TGN Silvertip knot and it is part of my regular brush rotation. Having never know him it does not bring back memories but it does seem cool to have something of his being used as sort of a memorial to him.
