Are you guys really discussing Colgate mug soap? Are you sure it isn't a (better) chinese knock off that you're using? :-)

Oh no, a pot stirring question. I am watching a few auctions for this soap on the evil bay. Now you tell me these are Chinese?! Say it isn't so. First Chicks blades and now Cachug soap.

No Rich, I'm sure the Chinese aren't making shave soap and calling it Colgate Mug Soap. It was just my way of showing incredulity that anyone could get it to work for shaving by alluding to maybe the Chinese are actually making a "superior" Colgate Mug Soap. I don't hold Chinese products in high regard.

Since I have not studied the vintage soaps, I was concerned that this was the case. I have heard many great tales of forgotten soaps like Old Spice, Colgate, I wanted to see for myself what the hoopla was about. On the other hand, there are so many great soaps out there now, my quess I may not be missing much.

Shaved with Colgate Cup soap today. Outstanding lather. The 1910 Gem Jr. Bar loved it.

Back when I was a yout schillings weren't as plentiful for me as they are now. I used Colgate because it was inexpensive (not cheap). It was as good as any of the higher priced stuff. Whenever I can find some vintage Colgate I buy it.

Wasn't Colgate the brand of Shaving powder that lathered like a bomb ?....Seems I remember I tied it thinking "No Way.." but it turned out to be fantastic....

I was discussing its most recent incarnation. I haven't had the opportunity to try any of the vintage pucks.

I was referring to the cup soap and the early 70s mug soap.

I stand corrected. I have the Mug. The other one that came in the rollwith barbershop on it would be the cup? Attachments:

Just checking. I was sorta hoping it was cup soap. That would have explained why I couldn't get it to work. My soft water has previously lathered anything I asked it to lather.
