I have several pucks of this one. Most are the regular red and white box. I have one puck that said colgate barbershop on it ( thanks again Justin). I can not tell any difference. I do love the Colgate lather. The 7 pucks I have should last awhile Fuzzy

I like it as well. The Mug version gets a bad rap, but it works very well for me. I've got one of the Barbers bars but haven't started using it yet.

I have on old stick. It came in a cardboard box and was in a little bag with a tin, sold together by the antique shop. I don't know the age. I'll have to find the box again to what combination of Colgate/Palmolive/Peet is printed on it. I think the stick is the cream of the Colgate crop, but I'd have to compare the products side by side to be sure. Colgate sure did make some great soap!

I agree Andy. Love both the cup soap and the barbershop type.

I got around to digging in the big box that's full of small boxes that were once full of shaving stuff, so I thought I'd update that the box to the stick I have is labeled "Colgate-Palmolive-Peet", which places it somewhere between 1928 and 1953. It is promoting the "small bubble lather", I think I've seen that in some adds, but I don't recall their timeline.

I used to use this stuff a lot years ago. It's a good basic soap. If they still made it I'd use it all the time.

I have several of these put up. Maybe I should sell them. Good soap though.

That's the Mug version, which was the last they made before production stopped. A lot of guys don't think it's as good as the older Cup version. I like the Mug, and it works well for me, but the Cup is definitely better.

Arggh! Colgate mug soap... My nemesis! The only soap I fed to the bugs in the septic system w/o me using it first. They're probably still puking over it. :-)
OK, I may have used it incorrectly. Maybe I should have lathered directly on the puck? That's about all that I didn't try. Normally everything lathers great for me, but not the Colgate Mug Soap.

After hearing so many bad things about this soap, I just had to try it for myself. I thought, Williams gets such a bad rap, and it worked good for me. I tried some today for my shave. This was a modern puck I bought off of Amazon not too long ago. I prepped the same as I did for my Williams, (I let the puck soak in it's ramekin for about 5 mins before loading it.). I have to say, it lathered wonderfully for me. It has a great soapy scent that I really love. (It reminds me of my Grandfather's bathroom when we would visit many years ago.) I had no problem lathering this soap up, and it gave me a sweet BBS shave with my ER Streamline. I do not understand the terrible reviews it gets. It takes a minimal amount of more prep than say Proraso soaps do, but it's nothing out of line. It takes a little more water in my bowl, just as the Williams did, but nothing crazy. I really like the soap and will use it again.

It's good stuff. I wish they still made it. I think I have 5 more pucks left. I think this going to be tomorrows shave.

I used Colgate Mug a couple days ago with the Stag/TGN synthetic brush and got some fantastic lather.
