I would like to wish my beloved Marine Corps a very happy birthday today! Chesty Puller would be proud.

I will throw in my Happy Birthday too. Just my thoughts but a few more Chesty Pullers would be great these days.

Thank you gentlemen! This day is obviously very special to me.
There are no ex marines, just former Marines.

I know a few "inactive" marines, but behind that beer gut is always the heart of a Marine.

It's not so much the physical part that makes one a Marine, while that is important, the most important part is the mental aspect. It means when you say you will do something, you keep your word come hell or high water. It is about never leaving a man behind, getting the job done. It is about having pride and loving the flag. From the Halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli! In our hymn, we guard the streets of Heaven, and we are ready to fight any clime and place. The Marines are stationed at every embassy in the world, they are called upon to go anywhere in the world to act as a security force. They are peacekeepers, and bring the Force of God against their enemy.
If you see a Marine this weekend, just say thank you, and happy birthday!

OS, I know what you mean. I was a paratrooper and the attitude has stuck with me to this day. Just ask my nurses in rehab. One wants to use me as a poster boy for claudication therapy. It's painful every day that I show up yet I'm going to be successful at it. Quit? That's not in my vocabulary.

I found that while I won't take anything away from those that served, there does seem to a bit of a dichotomy between some of the branches and the "type" of folks that are in. I may not have loved every Marine I was stationed with, but by God, I'd fight for any of them. According to the Corps, we weren't white, black, asian, or Indian, we were all green.
