Where did you get the GEM blade? Chances are it is an industrial blade and not one meant for shaving. The carbon steel blades that are meant for shaving will have 009 stamped on the spine of the blade and not GEM or PAL. If you have a CVS or RiteAid pharmacy nearby check there to see if they have any of the blade in the shaving isle, these store brand blade are carbon steel and are much better then the industrial blades. I got it from tryablade(.com) -- same place I got the Gem PTFEs. He carries: Gem stainless, Gem stainless PTFE, Gem Carbon, and Pal Blue Carbon. I'm reasonably sure they are shaving blades, but I'll check the spine....gotta say, it certainly felt like I was shaving with an industrial blade. I recently put in a mini-order for some Gem PTFE's from Connaught....it's a UK company but their US shipping is very low. It just so happens I was in a CVS last night and I did see that they sell a tuck of 10 blades...I'm planning on giving them a try too. Unfortunanty, from my experience, and from other people that I have heard from the blade from Tryablade are the industrial versions. Check out the CVS blades and you will notice a night and day difference.

Somebody just picked up a custom title, now let's see, uses carpet blades? Carpet blade shaver? industrial blade shaver? Yep, that's it, that's the one wchnu I nominate this for his custom title! Congratulations are in order!

I am honored ....although I am going to try and not make a habit of shaving with those blades -- as the day has worn on, my face has continued to register its displeasure.

Not the best lather from Williams again today. I am still getting used to this new brush. It has lost a few hairs but I expected that. If you are in the market for a decent brush at a fair price, give this one a go. Attachments:

Wed 28th Nov. Jayaruh No67 P & B city Royale ATT SE-G. modded base Plate GemS/S [ 2 ] Alcolado Glacial A/S Lotion Another Shave with the ATT SE-G since it has been modded. At least it Shaves now but it is still very mild and forgiving, and the Shave it delivered was reasonably close all round. However, not in the same league as Shaves that I get from many of my Vintage SE Razors. It would appear that ATT did not get things right when producing this Razor, as very few are to be seen on various forums.

Tabac Thursday's ShaveCold Water Wash Tabac Shaving Soap Jayaruh #206 Pal Injecto-Matic Vintage Pal Hollow Ground CWR Tabac AS My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Tabac Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #206 brush. I did two passes with the Pal Injecto-Matic Razor with a Personna blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Tabac AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

November 28th: Micromatic Clog-Pruf using a Gem Carbon blade on it's first shave, Arko, Yaqi 26mm Timber Wolf, and finished with Thayers Rose Witch Hazel. Got a DFS after 3 passes and a touch-up. Not my best outcome ever and definitely far from my best feeling shave. A few things were different/new for me: the carbon blade, the soap and shaving prior to 48 hours of elapse time. My money is on the blade -- the Arko was perfectly fine. All in all, it wasn't a disaster, just not what I was expecting. Where did you get the GEM blade? Chances are it is an industrial blade and not one meant for shaving. The carbon steel blades that are meant for shaving will have 009 stamped on the spine of the blade and not GEM or PAL. This is the kind of info, we need to collect in one place..

Somethings you just can't improve upon! My love for this razor is well documented... and the Arko, was my daily soap for almost 10 years }8^))...Now I share my lather love with Williams aswell...but my rediscovery of TWS was in a country where Arko was the history of lather, like Williams is here... Also my love for Skin Bracer, Old Spice and both flavours of Agua Velva is well known. The proline b-20s I discovered this year... Nothing revolutionary...It is more like de ja vu..It's like Schick started making their Plat-Pluses again...To me these are like that old chestnut...I still love the Personnas...don't get me wrong...But these Pro-lines are for all intents and purposes a new old stock schick plat-plus for 1/2 the price...and I can order them from Andrew and don't have to throw the dice on e-bay...}8^)) Have a great day and shave everybody!!
