I tried Williams early on in my wet shave journey. It ended up being a pretty good bath bar. I recently decided to try it again with all of my accrued knowledge. I keep my puck in an Old Spice mug. Load it up, face lather, and keep adding cold water until it feels right. I do notice that it dissipates some, but I don't dawdle with my shaves and I never lack for slickness. It's actually really growing on me, and I'm using it mostly for the entire month. Clean smell, slick, cheap, leaves my face soft. What more do you want? Veddy nice!!! Great to see you too!!! Good to be seen!

I've used Williama with boar, badger, horse and synthetic and they all load just fine for me.

I've used Williama with boar, badger, horse and synthetic and they all load just fine for me. Funny you should mention that. I did a badger today, a synthetic yesterday, a boar on Tuesday, and Monday. Tomorrow, I'm using a badger, and Friday I plan to use a horse. I do it mainly to show it can be done. Williams like a stiff boar, but it will tolerate any of them

I use synthetics almost exclusively (I'll break up the monotony with a boar on rare occasion). No loading issues at all.

I think Williams has some masochistic tendencies...Williams just loves to be whipped...it don't care what kind of brush you use....Williams loves to be lathered...

Has anyone tried the Williams Ice Fresh Menthol Shave Cream?? I always wanted to try that, but didn't have the chance yet, as it isn't easy to find here in Italy. On the other hand, I tried the french one, the sensitive skin one with the gray box, but I didn't like it that much (see here)

I started off having issues with Williams I had to experiment a little. But ultimately I concluded it's a thirsty soap. I used to have issues with it dissolving on my face. But I figured out that if I simply add a little extra water compared to other soaps that issue went away. I no longer have any issues with Williams get creamy protective lasting lather.

Another tip that may help some of you get thicker lather from Williams or other soaps. My home tomorrow has a soap maker that makes clay shave soap. I could only get thin watery lather from it. But I experimented and found that if I bowl lathered and got that thin lather. Then took the soap puck and ran it over my face like a shave stick and applied the lather and worked it it would thicken up a bit. But I don't know what that soaps deal is I guess it's just very thirsty. I can face lather I don't exclusively bowl lather. But thats the only way I could get nice lather out of brookstone soaps. They're very slick and protective hard to lather. The same could work for Williams.

Perhaps the Williams chooses like the Vegetal? 🧐 If it does, it chose me. However, the Vegetal "pucked" me over.
