It didn't get as cold here as I originally thought it might. It got to 2.1 degrees and stayed there for hours. It did rise to 2.5 later in the night and in the morning it was 1°. The wind might have helped keep our temps from falling. But just a few miles away, in town, it went down to -2.

Any idea as to why it is colder in the city, than outside? InwoulI think that would be opposite. It is indeed 2 degrees colder outside the city, my friend. The temps I indicated are below 0°C Well, that's what happens when I post BC. That's Before Coffee😀

Jay, what's your AO? I'm guessing lake effect snow but frankly I haven't a clue. Stay safe and warm!
BTW, better you than me. We're supposed to miss the next storm as it passes to the south, but I have my eyes open. Tomorrow I'm filling the truck and fuel cans for the salamander heater for the shop, which just keeps it above freezing out there. Yeah, I trust the forecasters (not very likely).
Temps tonight mirror last nights almost exactly so far. It was 2.1° and is now climbing. Very strange. I don't think it's windy tonight, or if it is the winds are mild.
2.5 more months before I can generally start shooting/testing outside again. 4 months until outside competition. I live for the future at this time of year. I'm ambulatory and appear to be doing things, but at heart I'm just waiting for warm weather (like the trees).
The guinea fowl are in far too cramped quarters. I ran an ad at a really good price for the excess, but no takers. The far too small coop (it is crowded at 10, but it now holds 18) hasn't had any fatalities yet, but there are months to go. Fingers crossed. I suspect that this spring I'll have a mess of guinea fowl just leave and not come back to the coop. I hope not but it wouldn't surprise me.

It went down to -6.5°F last night, but the good news is that no significant storms are forecast for the next few days.
Yes Jay', as long as one doesn't need to drive on it ice storms are gorgeous.

Presently it's -1°F. The wood stove is stoked and I'm getting ready to hit the sack.
Edit: It was -8.3 when we got up this morning.

If the weather forecaster can be believed we have one heck of a snowstorm coming. They predict 10-24 inches of light fluffy snow for our area and I thought I heard a prediction of high winds. If that's true it could be a blizzard. I'm still hoping it goes out to sea. But we have all the hatches battened down and we're as ready as we can be. We just loaded the inside wood rack, we use it for heat, and have backups to our backups.

All I know is that when I stepped outside to let the dog out, he looked at me, sniffed outside and ran back to the couch.

I suspect that to the west the storm is lifting and there would be a pretty nice sunset if we could only see it. Why do I write this? The light is very weird. We are having a pink snowstorm, or what's left of it of the snowstorm. It's not snowing very hard. We got at least 10" and maybe 12". That would be 25-30 cm. Thankfully for probably 6 hours it has been sleeting and that kept the accumulation down. Tomorrow I get to move it. whooppee! I'm just so underwhelmed and underjoyed. 1 1/2 more months until our weather begins to turn around. Anything can happen between now and then. 4 1/2 more months until outdoor competition begins!
