After a side by side shave. These both shave virtually the same. The Improved seems to hold the blade better. Due to the 4 fingers as apposed to 2 on the Silver King.
As there is no cap to get in the way, you have total control of Blade feel.
The razors have very nice blade feel. So if you like an “aggressive” razor, do not hesitate to get one.

I agree with the blade feel. It is great. The 4 point blade hold does look nice! They both look great!

Seems like the "older" the razor, the more blade feel. Kinda like folks had the right technique back then. Everything else has just been a work to take skill out..... I'll have to hunt up one of these.

So here it is Clark's Silver king. It is different from any other razor I have. Well at least in the loading of the blade. Wait's shows it to be 1920s..ish. There is a hinged plate on the bottom of the head. When you put the blade in it goes over the plate and under the side holders. The blade is slid to the stops and then when you tighten the handle it pushes up on the plate and that pins the blade between it and the side holders. Seems to hold nice and tight. This will be my razor for a shave later tonight of course!!! Is it a lather catcher because of the open top? Or not because it does not have a lather trap??? Wowzer, thats cool.

Really the wife won’t let me spend the rent money on razors😡

What grabs me is the simplicity of it. Simple yet effective.
