Hello All,
I have two different models of the Schick injector razor an E2 and a G4. My E2 is currently on it's way to jayaruh for a look over because I've had problems using it, which you all can read about in the post called "Something is not right".
My question is how and why do you open one of these I've seen photos of them opened but know nothing about how it's done. Do all of the old type injectors open? When did they stop this feature, and why?
The history of this stuff is so interesting so I'm looking forward to seeing what you all have to say.✌

Evidently the E2 came in a fixed spring version, too. I am thinking that the earliest E2s were of the movable spring variety. For some reason, that feature was deemed to be a bad idea. I have read many entries of shavers who have trouble shaving with the E2. They get very close shaves, but they experience cuts, nicks, abrasions, irritation. I am thinking that either they have bad technique, or there is something going on with the geometry of the head. I will write more on this later.

The early E2s opened. Maybe the E1? After that they stopped it until the hydro magic came along. Not sure why the changed. The Gs do not open. I have seen some that were modified by taking off one side of the spring where it is pinned. A bad idea I think.

Unfortunately, Appleby (the guy who came up with this classification) is woefully vague and ambiguous when it comes to the Type E:
Does the 'Spring moved to the left top open' refer to E1 and E2 or just E2? Unclear. If some E2 had a movable spring and some didn't - why not give them two designations? I think I've said it before - the entire Appleby classification is a mess.

What is a tab as opposed to a flap? Without detailed pictures the classification is useless. I need to continue working on my own interpretation of the classification, but I don't have time currently and I don't own enough injectors. Not a single A, D, E (sold), F, G, J, L, M (sold), O - it's a miracle I know anything about injectors at all

The best we have is: www.safetyrazors.net/schick/schickyear.htmAt the bottom of that page is a link that takes you to the Schick page with pictures. Between both these pages...most E type secrets are revealed....not all....but most...}8^)) The difference between the E1 and E2's are easy to see...I know several folks with yhe E1's...perhaps the rarest of the injectors. And they all say they are more aggressive than the E2's! And also a smooth, great shaver...Just be alert and keep on a short leash..lol!

Thanks, birdlivesThe last picture (with the Type D on the left I believe) is helpful. I am aware of Appleby's page - the best a man can currently get - but the images are - for identification purposes - inadequate.
