So I occasionally travel -- sometimes for work, often for pleasure -- and sometimes in a plane, but often in a car. I thought I'd share my travel setup and I'm hoping that others will share theirs. A few comments before I trot out my most recent travel setup: - If flying, I always put my blades in checked luggage, but I put my razors in my carry-on. I know it's paranoia, but I live in fear that someone will "lift" one of my razors from my checked bag; so I don't check anything I don't mind walking away. Sadly, this means that I rarely do air travel with an injector
- I tend to over-pack....it's just my nature. So I usually take extra razors, brushes, and soaps -- I know I could travel lighter, but I really like variety
- And since I like variety, I'll take pretty much whatever I feel like using (lather catchers, GEMS, Injectors [when driving]....whatever strikes my fancy)
Here's my last road-trip setup: 3 soaps: An Arko stick that has been fit into a deodorant container (easy to do and works well), a sample container with some Palmolive cream, and a sample container with some Geo F Trumper's Lime cream. A former nasal spray container with Thayers' Rose Witch Hazel (WH) and a small container of my favorite AS (Krampert's Finest Bay Rum) which also acts a face-nourisher. The blue pouch is a give-away I got when flying on Swiss Air in business class -- it used to hold a sleep mask, slipper-socks and other small freebies from the airline. The pouch is always used to hold the razor(s), small brush (Maggard's 18mm Timberwolf), and alum block: The razors on my last road-trip were the Schick Eversharp Ladies Fashion Razor (Type H aka the "Hussy"), and a Schick L1 with a Japanese Twin Injector Blade. Lastly, I took an extra brush -- My 24mm Yaqi Moka. The extra brush, soaps, WH, AS ride in a gallon sized bag (not pictured). As mentioned, when flying I usually take at least 2 non-injector SE’s. The razors would go into the blue travel pouch and into a carry-on; and the blades will go into a pill bottle (like the one used for the Maggard brush) and into the checked bag. How about y’all? Do you take more than one razor, and do you take the same or different razors? Same question on brushes and soaps (just one, a couple, the same ones for every trip or different ones depending on the trip)? How do you carry your stuff? I’m always looking for new ideas.

I have a few travel kits, I should take pics of them. I tend to assemble them and put them in my various go bags, and forget about them.

If I traveled I could better answer the question. The last time I did was a decade ago and then only for 2 nights and maybe only 100 miles away. Yup, I'm a real jet setter! I remember taking one razor, one shave soap, a syn' brush 'cause I could put it away wet. I don't remember what else.
But I have quite a few sets that are designed to travel so I'm ready for trips should I ever change my ways.

But I have quite a few sets that are designed to travel so I'm ready for trips should I ever change my ways. Thank you both for weighing in. I like the idea of pre-assembling some kits (or using the ones I have which were purposefully designed for travel) and being ready for a trip (or anything else that comes up). My kit is currently done "on the fly", which makes it nice and flexible for whatever I feel like shaving with; but it really ratchets up the chances of me leaving a key piece of gear behind. Many years ago I had a job where I traveled a lot and also required me to "dress up", which in this case was wearing french cuffs, which require cuff links. I remember getting up in the morning after arriving late that night, and discovering that my fancy shirt was missing a way to secure my cuffs, which wasn't going to go well with my fancy suit. So I fashioned a pair out of a couple of paper clips. Those days are long gone, and I prefer to roll my sleeves up if it's a long sleeve shirt, but it's a constant reminder to me when I travel to try and double-check the "essential" gear before going wheels-up.

Checklists also work. I used them for years when getting ready to attend a match. Now I have a range bag with most of my gear stowed in it. I just need to remember the really big items and I have everything.

I would make a standard checklist on the computer and just print it out every time. Don't need something for a particular trip? Just cross it out.
I have so much going on that I live by checklists... as long as I have time to think about my needs. But generally repeats of every type of trip has similar needs.

I travel. A lot. And I prefer to travel light. Also, I prefer to bring my razor on board in case the suitcase gets lost. I have never had a problem with bringing a Schick Adjustable on board. It is also, incidentally, one of my favourite razors. Since I use Meißner Tremonia products, their shaving paste and aftershave will do nicely. No pre-shaves or anything else needed. The paste is in the small tub (it will last a month if used daily), and the aftershave is in the little spray pump bottle. Then there is a perfume (currently Penhaligon's) in the black spray pump bottle. Last, a really, really cheap Frank Shaving synthetic that simply works very well. No need for a plastic tube to store it. I just need to blow-dry it for a few seconds. And it can be cleaned in a dishwasher. Got to love low maintenance. As for checklists, I use Google Keep Notes. It is freely available, and works on a PC, or a mobile. And now for a short commercial break: Tom Bihn's Tri-Star cabin bag is the best on-board travel bag I have ever used. Their 3D Clear Organiser Cube has never caused my trouble when going through security. And there are tons of other useful paraphernalia available for this bag (and its three brethren that I use for other purposes, such as overnight stays, commuting, and so on). Yes, they cost a little extra, but they are better than TUMI bags - that's probably all you need to know about their quality.

Yes, they cost a little extra, but they are better than TUMI bags - that's probably all you need to know about their quality. Very nice and well thought-out travel kit!!! I've been tempted to try carrying on a Schick -- I'm not sure my Type H would raise any eyebrows -- although my Type L or N sort of have a disposable look -- but I travel through mostly small US airports and the TSA can be pretty uneven with their checking and enforcement of the rules. Technically, since the blade is removable, the Schick cannot be carried-on -- and in times of high-threat, every item is checked thoroughly and questioned. Recently they've started requesting snacks (like energy bars, bags of almonds, etc) be removed from the carry-on and put into the tray for inspection. I suspect something was going on. My carry on razors without blades have only been stopped and thoroughly examined a couple of times recently -- the open comb razors seem to unnerve the person at the X-ray machine, and I can understand that, before getting into this hobby I would've been confused by a lot of razors. Before 9/11 I spent a fair amount of time traveling in Europe (mostly between Switzerland, Germany, France and Italy; with a few side-trips to England), I found the security checks thorough (even back then), but I never had a problem. I like the look of the Tom Bihn's bag and the Organizer Cubes (although I haven't tried either yet). And I appreciate the Google Keep Notes suggestion -- I've been using Google Docs and Sheets to keep lists on, but they are over-kill for how I'm using them, so I'm looking forward to trying the Notes app. Thanks for the referrals and for sharing your setup!

I just traveled recently. I don't have a grab and go kit, I have a shaving kit type back that I put all my toiletries in. I pick a brush, cream/soap, razor and blades before I go. I don't have a dedicated travel setup. If I traveled frequently I definitely would.
