Wednesday Shave
Soap: Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber - It's a sample, it's not bad as a soap, could be slicker and the scent is a bit in your face. I like milder scents. I don't think for the money it would be a soap I would buy. Brush: Omega Boar AS: Castle Forbes 1445 Razor: I claim the 5th
Much more time to shave today so I was able to mix up a normal lather and have at it. Nearly BBS today. Even in the troublesome neck area.

ER 1914 aka the little lather catcher Are the 1914's classed as a lather catcher? Also are there other lather catchers that takes a GEM type or do they have to take a wedge blade.

Weather it is a lather catcher pr not is contested much as Pluto is no longer a "planet" Pluto is still a planet to me and the 1914 is a lather catcher to me. There are many true lather catchers that work well with a modern Gem blade some with a wedge adapter some with just the blade. There are Ho type razors that where originally designed for wedge blades that also work with the modern blades.

The Kampfe Star razors are usually a little more aggressive than the Gem lather catchers slightly more efficient though. The Gem Jr. Bar is a fantastic shaver. Plenty efficient but very smooth. Ever-Readys are also a bit more aggressive although I only have one shave with an ER. Mine has a worn blade stop that I temporarily fixed. The fix lasted one shave. Which reminds me. Blade stops in good shape are very important for use with modern blades. With an adapter some razors that where designed without blade stops may be used but if it was designed with them you want to be sure they are in good shape. @flintstone and several others here know more about lather catchers than me. They may be able to give some good insight.

Meant to do a video today, but had technical malfunctions. (Suction cup fell off) First shave in the new shave den, and it went very well!

I am not wanting a really aggressive shave so it may be a Gem JR to look for. Thanks again.

The Gem Jr. Bar is the one I would recommend. This is a Gem Jr. Bar.

For those interested in the magnificent (both in looks and in shaving) lather catchers (I'm looking at both you gaw9576 and Tony'schin ), I think you'll enjoy this area of the forum: The Clan of the Catchers. I'm not looking to cut off the discussion here at all, just wanted to make sure everyone knew about our area dedicated to Lather Catchers -- no 1914's allowed....sorry, Tony. I definitely agree with gaw9576 regarding the relative mildness of the Gem Jr Bar -- if you're preference is more towards mild than wild, then I think the Jr Bar would be more to your liking than the Kampfe Bros Stars. Especially if you're leaning more towards a lather catcher that was designed with the modern blade in mind, rather than the wedge. Just my 2-cents....but stop by the TCOC area and join in on those conversations!

And hopefully Tony'schin can find good inspiration and information there too.
