Used a canned gel with charcoal that I got for christmas...worked ok. Definitely not a game changer but did provide a slick and cushioned shave. Also first use of the vintage Royal Copenhagen aftershave...nice!

27/12/2019 Pre: Pears Transparent Original Brush: Jayaruh #291 Soap: Proraso Red Razor: Valet VC3 (British) Blade: Feather FHS-10 (1) Post shave: Alum Block, cold water splash, Homemade Astringent Balm: Bart's Balm Bergamot and Vanilla Balm & Lotion Aftershave: Copycat Bleu 1st ever shave with a Valet and what a surprise it was! The model i have is a British Made VC3 and needs to use the Feather FHS-10, i have to admit, i thought the blade was going to be poor from reading previous reviews, although i decided to chance it and bought a pack. I had a very nice lather from the JR #291 and Proraso Red (although i am growing tired of the soap now - not long to go though) I completed 3 very nice passes, the razor was really smooth, mild even. I like it and it seems to suit my technique. The blade was good for now so i will run with it for a few days to see how many shaves i can get. DFS+ result feeling & smelling good. A very happy shaver, i hope the USA - VC1 on route is as good. If i can get 3 or 4 shaves from a blade i will be happy with that as it will not be a daily driver. Have a great day All.

Friday 27th December Zenith 506U Synthetic - Signature Soaps Hibernia - Pal Injectomatic - Personna #4 - Alum - Brut Attraction Totale A/S - Aloe Vera Gel My shaving soundtrack for the past few weeks has been the BBC Radio 4 production of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Each episode lasts about 30 mins and is a great accompaniment to the shave. I'm now currently listening to the Tertiary Phase: Don't Panic!!!

Friday's ShaveCold Water Rinse Cella Crema Da Barba Jayaruh #199 Damaskeene Open Faced Vintage Damaskeene SE CWR Cella Balsamo Dopobarba My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Cella Crema Da Barba face lathered well with Jayaruh #199 Brush. I did two passes and a cleanup with the Damaskeene Open Faced razor with a freshly sharpened Vintage Damaskeene SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Cella Balsamo Dopobarba. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

December 27th shave. The Harry's cream is latherless which is not a real winner for me. It performed very well nonetheless with a great minty eucalyptus scent.

I watched your video, great little machine, one blade could last for years! Would you say it was as good as a new modern carbon blade?

Friday Shave du Jour Brush: Omega Boar Soap: Shave Factory - very good performance. Didn't seem to irritate the skin as I thought it had previously. Still a STRONG soapy smell though. Much stronger to me than Arko. Razor: One Blade AS/Balm: Christian Dior Sauvage (Christmas present from the Mrs., It smells nice and it persists well.)

I had a fantastic shave today. Started things off with the Ever-ready 1914 aka little lather catcher. Then did a little cleanup and the back of the neck with 1900 Star lather catcher. The razors shared a 4th use Gem SS. Mer Shavings mysore sandalwood on my new brush with a 28mm SHD Maggard knot for lather. WOW first impressions of this knot are very good. And of course I love Mer Shaving soaps.
