Greetings
I am hoping to pick up within the next few days or weeks (depending on my luck and frugalness) a GEM Contour; these razors although not as common as the Micromatics seem to appear on E-bay most weeks although normally only in very small numbers.
What can you chaps tell me about them, I know virtually nothing and there seems almost nothing written about them.
I have never seen one 'in the flesh', the head looks like it might be identical to the pushbutton which I have and like. How gentle/aggressive are they, what do they shave like and why for a relatively modern GEM are there so few of them about?
Regards Dick

I have a contour. Not sure if it is a 1 or 2. I find it a good if mild razor. You will enjoy the shave I think. Good luck with the hunting.

I have yet to dig up one of these. Interested to hear how it goes for you - finding and testing!

I've had a few of each of both the Contour 1 and II. They have the same frame as the Feather Weight and Push Button, very mild shavers. The 1 is a push button style opening and the II is a flip top like the 1912's. They were the last SE's ASR made.

I have a II then. Not a bad shaver.

When I want a quick shave, with no plans for bbs , I grab a contour.

I have a contour I on the way. I expect it to be very mild, but wanted one to go with my contour II.
I will post my thoughts after I use it some.

I had one and found it to be nice and mild when I could hold onto it. For me the only reason I got rid of it was due to the slippery handle when I used it. Go figure that one out.

Greetings
I was fortunate enough to pick up a nearly mint one off e-bay (USA) for a very reasonable price and I really like it.
I found the shave to be exactly the same as the Featherweight and the Pushbutton.
IMHO it is only the handles that differ between these three models. I have looked at them together with blades fitted and it appears to the naked eye and the way they shave that the relationship between the blade and the safety bar in terms of distance and gap is the same
I actually prefer the feel of the razor in my hand to the other two models, I do not own a Contour 2 so unfortunately I'm unable to judge it against that model, it will be interesting to hear what you think. I'm on the lookout for a Contour 2.

I hope so Fuzzy. Cause when I was able to hold onto the thing it did do something the Micro"Junko"matic did not do and that is provide a very nice shave. ;D

Only a few years ago you could get a Countour II for a dollar, directly from ASR.
