a couple of 100T and a 200T all knots are from TGN I want to say all are roughly 25-28mm a black, a best, and a best short loft (my fav) All old knots drilled out on drill press with forstner bit drilled deeper than necc to allow deep setting 2 part marine epoxy. The short loft 200T has 2 dollars worth of nickles in it, gives a wonderful heft to the brush. The regular best has a mix of sand and pennies under the epoxy for a light weight feel. Black badger 100T has hollow handle. The drill press without question makes the process a dream Attachments:

If any brothers have an old handle and a knot.... and want it done, PM me.. I dont need to make any money on it, just cover the shipping back to you. I have a few handles to restore and it takes 5 minutes or so more, to do 2 brushes than 1.

I will stick that Ever-Ready Butterscotch I just got and postage in with the Floid. Forget about the blades. I don't have a drill press at home anymore so if you could drill it out for me I can take it from there. Thanks again, Alan

Great so see your wonderfully restored brushes. It is also pretty nifty that we are going to see a collaboration on a restore that will be completed at different spots across the continent! Butterscotch is one of my favorites and I would really look forward to a photo after you guys have tied the knot!
Willyb - I have never tried the Golden Nib knots. I have really only tried a small handful of badger knots really with my best being a very modest Best Badger Crabtree & Evelyn from three or four years ago when they were all the rage amongst the wetshave newbie. Other than that, cheaper badgers that run 20 bucks or so.
Out of your three - which has the most firmness and stifness?? I like a solid big boar brush because it will whip up a frenzy of a face lather. Any of those knots up to the task?

If you want the most firmness possible, that short loft cant be beat. It will tear through a soap puck like a chainsaw, It is a bit shorter and stiffer, and also feels more dense, like there is more hair in the knot. I cant wait to do another short loft restoration. Nothing against boar knots, I really like them as well. I have a few handles begging for new TGN knots as soon as I get some time to do it, and get to my pops place to use the drill press and forstner bits.

Nice restores!
I've done only one reknot, with a TGN Finest Fan and it's one fantastic brush. Nice knot.

Thanks! I will agree wholeheartedly, TGN sells a damn fine selection of knots. Never used a Fan , YET, but Im sure I will get to doing one eventually. Ive got a real nice super small vulfix handle just begging for a TGN knot in the 15-18mm range, along with a few other vintage handles in larger sizes.
