Because for me, it gave the worst shave ever. Zero cushion, my face hasn't hurt like this since my first wet shave. When lathered up, it didn't feel like lather, but like wet slime, washing hands with bar handsoap. Used same routine that I always do, only change being the soap. Lesson learned, Never again. I regret that I share the same name with this product. "Thunk" as it hits the bottom of trash can.

Works great for me. I stocked up last spring when Kroger clearanced them out so I've got enough to last several years.

Greetings
Would I be correct in saying that Williams has been (and still is) the most popular mainstream shaving soap in the USA and has held that position for about 50years? It seems to be a love it or hate it product with few people in the middle. It has never appeared in Britain so I have never tried it.
I guess it holds the same position as Palmolive over here, most British supermarkets stock no other brand.
Regards Dick.

Williams has been around a long time. I love the stuff. It has had some minor changes over the years. I think it still works great. As you said a love it or hate it product. If you would like a puck shoot me a pm with an address I will send one across the pond.

Yep, small white square box, blue lettering. Soap puck smells like anti- mosquito products. Gagg. Sounds pretty clear!! I have a couple of pux around but in truth I only drag them out a little less than twice a year. I know that up here in Canada it is pretty much still the ONLY soap you can buy. There has been no wet shave industry up here for a long time so the only stuff that was able to survive the slow market was Williams because they had already penetrated all the stores. The gooo has reigned supremes. It has only been in the last couple of years or so that a few options are available. But, to the general buyer who shops at Walmart or other big pharmacies and stores up here, Williams has been the only soap for maybe thirty or forty years. It does smell a bit like mosquito repellant.

If there is a version of shave soap that feels like mink fur against the skin, this is it. A kilo block is $35. I went in on a kilo block with a buddy over a year, maybe 2 ago. So I got 500 grams. I just finished the first half of my half, I still have 1-2 years left. I use it liberally, daily. My GF uses it every other day for legs, etc. Get the picture? Within the next few months I am getting another kilo, and glad to split it halves with someone. I dont bother using anything else. Italian barber.

It takes the right techniquet to get great lather out of Williams. Really. It's not the easiest soap to use. Yes, to me it smells like Citronella also, but I like the scent.
Willy, yes Vitos is good, but try P.160 while you still can. IB still has some in 150gram containers, so I read yesterday. Make an ultralther with it, same as you do the Vitos Red. Everything you like about Vitos, P.160 is "more of". Alas, P.160 is no longer available in the kilo size and the bowls may run out soon also. 3P is much like Vitos Red, but with a better scent (More like p.160) and IB has R160 which is his replacement for P.160. Joe says it's quite close to P.160.
