Greetings
Monday 8th October 2012 Prep: Shower Razor: ER 1924 'Shovelhead' Blade: GEM Stainless Coated Brush: Saving Factory Med. Soap: Palmolive Stick and Palmolive Cream + Glycerin Aftershave: Dove Sensitive balm
First time using this model and the very first impression is it is very aggressive, IMHO a good deal more so than an OCMM. I certainly needed to take it steady but no nicks and no weepers, not the closest of shaves though, even with three passes. This may have been due to the blade which seems to have prematurely dulled, probably because of my inept attempts at hand stropping it, I think I sometimes make a blade worse rather than better!
I need to try this razor several more times to form a concrete conclusion but what is already very obvious is that it is very 'fierce'.
Regards Dick.

Greetings Tuesday 9th October 2012 Prep: Shower Razor: ER 1924 'Shovelhead' Blade: GEM Stainless Coated Brush: Omega 39 Boar Soap: Füme Lavender Aftershave: Dove Sensitive Balm Second shave with the 1924, I used a new blade and took it steady and have achieved a perfect bbs finish. This razor is certainly aggressive but not in a 'face ripping/mole cutting /scouring way', if that makes any sense at all? I find it hard to tell whether I get a better shave from the more aggressive SE razors or not; probably as I shave every day and always do three passes, but in any event, this was a superb and comfortable shave. Regards Dick

Wednesday 10th October 2012 Prep: Shower Razor: GEM Contour Blade: GEM Stainless Coated Brush: Vulfix 404 Mixed Soap: Kent Luxury Aftershave: Dove Sensitive Balm
A super shave with the Contour, although one of the mildest SE's, with three passes it still, IMHO gives a perfect shave.
I am, I believe, coming to the conclusion that the biggest difference (at least for me) between the aggressive and mild GEM's/ER's is the amount of touching up required.
I found that yesterday with the 1924 I needed hardly any, today with the Contour, I needed quite a bit, but in the end the final result seemed the same.
I can however see a compelling argument in favour of the more aggressive models if you do not shave every day or have a 'Desperate Dan type' heavy beard. In the end I personally have not found a single SE razor that is not capable of giving a BBS shave; the model seems just a matter of choice.
Regards Dick.

Friday 12th October 2012 Prep: Shower Razor: GEM Pushbutton Blade: GEM Stainless Coated Brush: Lijun Boar Soap: Tweex Pressed into a container Aftershave: Wilkinson Sword Sensitive Balm
A poor shave! It became apparent early on that the blade was finished but I stupidly carried on to the bitter end with it rather than walk back to my bedroom to get another.
The price for idleness, a cr*p shave!
Regards Dick.
