Gem 1912 Junior Gem SS/PFTE Blade (9) Made-Rite 500PB Brush KMF Cool Mint Cream Kroger (Vi-Jon) Arctic Blue AS
My daughter got me some Arctic Blue AS from the grocery store where she works for about $2.50. I've always liked it even better than Aqua Velva but had been without it for several months now. It's great to have some again!

Greetings Saturday 13th October 2012 Prep: Shower Razor: GEM Junior 1912 Baton Handle Blade: Feather SE with spine added Brush: Vie Long 13061M Horse Cream: Body Shop Macca Root Aftershave: Wilkinson Sword Sensitive A member of another forum recently and very kindly sent me a couple of Feather SE blades to try, he has been experimenting with adding spines to the blades to use in a ER 1912. I have done likewise and I must say this is one of the best shaves I have ever had. These blades are (IMHO) as smooth as silk and very sharp, how long they will last I have yet to discover. I discovered that these blades with the spine added are about 1.5 mm deeper than standard single edge blades and the only SE razors I could get them to fit in were the 1912's. I have been trying them spineless in other SE's but found that in those they fit (all but the three Micromatics) they move backwards away from the blade stops if the back of the razor is tapped sharply against the palm of my hand. I surmised they would do likewise if you attempted to shave with them, but I have read where others have shaved with them. With the spine fitted I found that in all the models of ER/GEM's I have (other than the 1912's) the blade cover will not quite close. Removing the old spines and fitting them to the Feather blades is simplicity itself and takes seconds, the only down side to all of this is the high cost of the Feather SE blades. Regards Dick.

Greetings That blade does not owe you much!! I have only a medium beard and I'm happy with four shaves and thrilled with five, I would not be disappointed with three. How do you do it? Regards Dick. My hair is exceedingly fine and light, even on my face. I believe that it provides so little resistance that it simply doesn't dull the blade. Most of the time I'm easily able to get two weeks from a blade without it feeling noticeably harsh. I just make a point of putting a new blade in every other Sunday morning...whether I need to or not!

Sunday 14th October 2012 Prep: Shower Razor: ER 1912 (Brit.) Blade: Feather SE with added spine Brush: Vulfix 404 Mixed Cream: Ingram Aftershave: King Of Shaves Balm
A noticeably less pleasant shave then yesterday.
1) The feather blade already seems to be dulling!
2) For a reason I simply do not understand the GEM Junior I used yesterday seems to shave much smoother than this razor even though the differences are purely cosmetic; strange.
Regards Dick

Gem Cutlery Damaskeene Gem SS/PFTE Blade (1) Made-Rite 500PB Brush KMF Cool Mint Cream Family Dollar (Vi-Jon) Spice AS
Oh man, I REALLY see now what all the hubbub has been about the Damaskeene. This razor has it all - perfect weight and balance, the excellent feel and sure grip of the round handle with the knurling, and the superlative frame design...and it looks so darned cool! On top of that, it delivered an impeccably smooth and comfortable shave. I predict that this Damaskeene will usurp the position of my Clog Pruf as my go-to razor...and that after just one shave! My sincerest thanks goes to willyb for alerting me to this exceptional find. I couldn't be happier with it.

Monday 15th October 2012 Prep: Shower Razor: PAL Injectormatic Blade: Personna Stainless Coated Brush: Lijun Boar Soap: Cella Aftershave: King of Shaves Balm
Super BBS shave. I love this little razor but I think I might be in a minority, it seems many others don't rate them compared to Schicks. I do understand though, there were manufacturing errors on some models.
Regards Dick.
