I ordered some of this from Shave Tools to give it a try. It is a great cream. I am not really over thrilled with the scent though,. It is not bad really just not as good as I had hoped it would be. I am not good at describing scents but it is not the clean sandalwood scent that I like. But over all a great Italian cream that is a great addition to the shave cave.

I know what you mean about sandalwood scents - at least I think I do. Sometimes the scent is absolutely heavenly and one of my absolute favs. Sometimes though, the scent can be rather uncomfortable smelling - sort of sandalwood but not really there. I picked up a TOB sandalwood cream that I just couldn't take really. The scent was, well, awful for me. There were other scents in there as well that were making it just not right - and I had to give it away.
It is worth the try though. I find the Trumpers cream sandalwood suits me ok and I found the Crabtree & Evelyn pucks were pretty good - but discontinued now. I am still on the hunt for a truly delicious sandalwood shave product so if anybody has suggestions I would be happy to have a little intel.
Like you say though, the Proraso red cream formulation is pretty spot on for creating a great shave.

I am not very fond of the TOBS Sandalwood scent, either. I like the Proraso, but I will agree that it is a little... sharp? I mostly praise it for the shave/performance, which is excellent.
For a different sandalwood, I'll suggest Cyril R Salter Indian Sandalwood as an option. The scent is in-between TOBS and Proraso... more complex and varied than the Proraso(which is pretty much just sandalwood oil and whatever chemicals are in Proraso), but without the "perfume counter" notes you get in the TOBS, and the performance is good, too. Scents are very YMMV, though.
