My first forray into the world of brushes priced over $10 was the popular Semogue 830.Not bad,a step in the right direction...probably a pretty solid brush for many people but I wanted a lot more backbone and like a little scritch.Sold the my barely used Semogue to someone who'll appreciate it. Spent some more time on homework and decided to find something with a loft 50mm or less and a diameter around 20. Ended up deciding on the Simpson Eagle G2 Total Height: 90mm Bristle Loft: 45mm Knot Dia: 20mm Hair: Simpson Best Badger The bristles are packed dense, all the backbone I could want, lathers well and feels fine... Holds it shape well, feels like I could paint my initials on my skin.I've been using it every day for about 2 weeks,I'm pretty sure it hasn't shed a single bristle. Total Height: 90mm Bristle Loft: 45mm Knot Dia: 20mm Hair: Simpson Best Badger The handle's little different,it appealed to me on sight,it feels good in my hand It's a workhorse for me,currently using it every day. When I get my EverReady 200 refurb done I will probably go back and forth with them.Timing was good, there was a new 15 - 20 percent across the board price increase on all Simpsons a day or two after it arrived. A drugstore boar works well enough, but this sure is awfully nice.... A couple of net pics:

Nice! Just by reading the specs it should be a really nice brush.
I assume you face lather? It would be excellent for that IMO. Enjoy!
So many brushes so little cabinet space. No more in fact and I don't want to sell any.
So all of my Simpson brushes are worth 15-20% more huh? Too bad they're not for sale. Good thing I have enough. There's only one Simpson that I'd like to buy. And I don't know if I'll ever spend that amount of $ for a brush. A "Classic" manchurian.

Face lathering is what I do and always have, but strangely...I never really called it face lathering unless I was was using a shave stick, guess my definition was a bit too narrow. The Eagle loads soap easily, the handle provides a comfortable surface to work with....I take my time building and distributing lather....
Not totally sure about the exact percentage price increase, also need to factor in that along with the price increase, some sites also stopped offering to accept discount codes (which I took advantage of) etc for Simpson products.
