Monday, 12 November
Gem Contour Gem SS/PFTE Blade (2) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Family Dollar (Vi-Jon) Spice AS
My shave today with the Contour was the closest I've had with it to date - DFS bordering on BBS. I believe I've gotten the technique down now; the curved handle seems to encourage a rocking motion which, needless to say, leads to a very inconsistent shave. As long as I make a concerted effort to lock my wrist to keep the motion in check, it gives as close a shave as my other Gems. There's something else that's weird about the Contour: even though it appears to give a very mild shave (milder in fact than any of my SEs except perhaps the FW), it's given me more nicks - albeit very small ones - than any of my other razors. Strange...

Gem Contour Gem SS/PFTE Blade (3) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Pereja Lemon Cologne
I got another close shave with the Contour. Much of the shave was very mild but the razor is continuing with its perverse propensity for nicking me. Right now I'm not digging the Contour but I'll give it a few more days before I pass final judgment.

Tuesday evening
Schick A ASR Blade D-1 Ever Ready 140 boar VDH Deluxe WH Clubman
Great shave. The A is a bit harder to load because it was made to use with the magazine loaded. It is not too hard though. This is a loud razor too. It did a great job with the VDH and a ASR blade.

A little rushed this morning so no picture. I really need to start taking my setup pictures at night with my wife's new Nikon D5100.
15 November 2012
Razor: Rhodium Gem OCMM Brush: Muhle Black Fibre Basic 2 White Soap: D.R. Harris Arlington in mahogany bowl AS: Krampert's Finest menthol
Still trying to dial in the Harris soap. I got a much denser lather today by using the synthetic and loading longer. It still wasn't a slick lather though. I'll get it figured out soon I'm sure.

Thursday, 15 November
Gem Contour Gem SS/PFTE Blade (4) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Pereja Lemon Cologne
The Contour gave me an excellent shave this morning, leaving me with a smooth - and for the first time - a nick-free face. It's strange that it took me so long to adjust to this razor considering its generally mild nature. I think it was largely because of the curved handle - no other razor I've owned has been quite like that.

Friday, 16 November
Gem Contour Gem SS/PFTE Blade (5) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Kroger (Vi-Jon) Arctic Blue AS
My initial negative impressions of the Contour have been erased. Now I'm finding it to be a nice mild razor that's very capable of delivering a close shave. It definitely ranks below my current favorites, the Damaskeene and the MMCP, but it's a worthy addition to the rotation.
