My wife cut herself up pretty badly shaving her legs with one of those sweet innocent looking pink cartridge razors on the front of her lower leg shin area. Not sure why or how it happened, but I offered her a GEM Heavy Weight Flat Top "G-Bar" armed with a PTFE Coated Stainless Steel Blade to try and she loves it ! She just shaved with it for the second time a couple of hours ago and says it works great, that it shaves much closer and with less effort than her girly razors. She's throwing the girly razors out and keeping the G-Bar hanging from a rack in the shower.I think she'll need about 2 SE blades a month and I've no doubt that she'll be 100% supportive of my next 200 blade order from Connaught's

Brian that's a really nice brush, bet your Wife loves it.Glad you posted it because seeing your Wife's custom brush made me realize that other than giving my Wife the G-Bar,I had't given any thought to by what mysterious process my Wife shaves her legs and wasn't sure if a brush would be helpful,so I asked her what she does.
I learned that she's been covering her legs with some (probably worthless for shaving) flowery liquid soap applied by hand after soaking in the tub a while.I've convinced her to let me show her the brush method and will set her up with some quality soap and coach her through her next attempt.

great to hear gents! My sig other isnt quite ready to shave herself with my equipment, but is very appreciative of my time with a damaskeene and her legs, armpits, etc.... I can really only see this as a win win.....
advice for those gents whos women are using SE razors on their own, show them how to make an extra slick, even drippy lather. DRY equals unhappy lady parts.

;-) I may leave that part out of the story this time John. BTW, She still loves the reject blades. And as often as she changes blades I'll never need to buy her another blade. Yup, I'm still quite a guy in her eyes.
Ain't life grand when the little lady gives her support!?
I HAVE been trying to get her to use better soaps, like high priced Williams :-) , instead of using bath soap for shaving. I say Williams because I don't have many reject soaps. I know I'll never get her to lather anything.

If so then I believe she deserves the best when it comes to blades and soap or cream. You have her using the finest of razors so why not do that with the blades and lathering medium.

Great thread!! I have been trying to get my wife to use a real razor and a better soap for a while...I thought that an Injector and Kiss my Face cream would be a good start...she's just not an easy girl to change

Great thread!! I have been trying to get my wife to use a real razor and a better soap for a while...I thought that an Injector and Kiss my Face cream would be a good start...she's just not an easy girl to change Thanks,it's kind of cool seeing this happen.I wasn't really trying to get her to try real razors, she seemed far too happy in her world of little pink plastic girlie cartridge razors to disturb her. It's when she cut herself that I was able to swoop in and proclaim the nasty multi bladed little pink Barbie razors tools of the devil. The part I've got to love about it is no messing around with double edges.....Ha ! She's going straight to a rockin' hell raising single edge ;D Success breeds success, her single edge shaving's gone so well that she's now open to anything else I recommend and will have me show her the intricacies of brush and shaving soap tomorrow night or the day after.

Your ride in Wyoming looked like a great spot for a spin. Your riding partner there doesn't look like a pink plastic girlie type!!! : )
Good razor story too. My wife was getting into decent hard soaps and a black badger, but never made the jump from a cartridge. Until....now she is happy using one of those electric hair ripping devices. I don't entirely get it but what ya gonna do? I tried.

Possum, sometimes folks write things for humor value. Very often smilies are inserted as a tip off. Sometimes not.
But anyway, she changes blades, quite literally, every 6 months whether it requires changing or not, so what doesn't work on my face works fine for her body hair. Hmmm, I could probably just gift her my fantastic used blades and sell the still virgin reject blades that didn't make it on my face, Right?
Thanks for the tip! Hey, us frugal Yankees do what we can to squeeze a penny!

I don't entirely get it but what ya gonna do? I tried. A very beautiful spiritual place out there, except for the road you're on,sometimes you don't see any sign of human beings for miles.... Tonight I introduced her to using a brush and soap. She definitely appreciated the difference in cushion and glide.I didn't give her my Williams LOL.... Had her use some soap we got from a local artisan that's based on olive, coconut, hemp oils plus shea butter, good stuff that was protective and moisturized her skin well. I did notice her technique needed some work, had to stop her from using those long continuous against the grain strokes like on 1950's Gillette commercials plus she was slipping and not using a shallow enough angle.I also taught her to use some across the grain technique to avoid traumatizing her shin. She's almost thoroughly indoctrinated into traditional single edge shaving.
