26 November 2012Razor: *Schick E2* w/ Schick blade Brush: Wet Shaving Products -- Monarch Super Silvertip Soap: *P.160* AS: *Krampert's Finest LE -- 80 Below* My first real attempt at a Monday Mourning shave (items w/ * are no longer in production). It will be better when I can use the TSN shavemac LE brush which will arrive today. I was spoiled shaving at my parent's house for Thanksgiving as they have a whole house water filter system. So I used my own Brita water this morning for my PreShave wash, to soak the brush in, & to rinse my face with. There is such a difference when you can get away from hard water. All my software even smells better on my skin. Already looking forward to tomorrow's shave.

Tuesday 27th November 2012 Prep: Shower Razor: GEM Contour Blade: GEM Stainless Coated Brush: Omega 10810 Boar Soap: Kent Luxury Aftershave: Floid Balm
A nice gentle but close shave. Although a mild razor, the Contour will produce a great shave for me with a bit of touching up.
Regards Dick.

27 November 2012Razor: Schick E2 w/ Schick blade (2) Brush: Shavemac TSN '13 LE D01 Silvertip 003/100 Soap: Cella AS: Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum in Hip Flask Another really nice shave. I'm quite impressed with the D01 knot from Shavemac. A few more uses are needed before really understanding it but I do enjoy its properties. The hip flask for the KFBR is not only great looking, but I actually prefer pouring from this than the plastic bottle. The narrow neck of the flask allows the bay rum to flow smoothly but not too quickly.

Tuesday 28th November 2012 Prep: Shower Razor: GEM Pushbutton Blade: GEM Stainless Coated Brush: Turkish No. 6 Cream: La Toja Aftershave: Adidas Balm
A slightly closer shave than yesterdays with the GEM Contour; which is very strange given that the geometry of the head in relation to blade gap and angle seems to be identical on both of these razors and the fact that the blade is one shave older and I prefer the feel of the Contour.
It always amazes me how much razors that seen so similar can shave differently.
A razor is not simply a blade holder or they all would be alike and it would be possible to obtain the same quality of shave with a stick cut from a hedgerow, split with a pocket knife and a SE blade inserted! Now I am sure it is possible to shave with a split stick as a blade holder but I shall not be trying any time in the foreseeable future.
The point I make is that the differences between all razors is in fact very small but the resulting differences in shave are huge.
Regards Dick.

Gem FW Gem SS/PFTE Blade (3) Turkish #6 Brush KMF Cool Mint Cream Pinaud Clubman AS
I'm doing a "tour" of all my SE razors. Today was the the Feather Weight's turn in the rotation and it performed admirably. It's fifteen hours later and my face is still nice and smooth.

29 November 2012- Razor: Schick E2 + Schick blade (4)
- Brush: shavemac TSN '13 LE Ebony/D01 Silvertip 003/100
- Soap: Mike's Natural Soap -- Orange/Cedarwood/Black Pepper
- AS: Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum -- Hip Flask
A really fine shave today. Even better than the last 2 despite a lackluster performance from the D01. The effective loft of this brush (read glue bump) may be too low for my liking. I'm hoping that it opens up a bit better in the coming weeks to have better flow and lather holding capacity. Even with this shortcoming this morning I had a better shave. I don't think my skin reacts well to Cella. I get great lathers from it, but the post shave feeling even with an amazing AS is not up to my standards. Granted the dry, cold air makes it even tougher but with other products that work much better I think the Cella may only get used by my wife from here on out.

Thursday 11/29
Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet-tip Blade: GEM Stainless (2) Brush: VDH Pure Badger Lather: KMF Cool MInt Post: Alum, Kramperts Finest Bay Rum
Results: Great shave. Mostly BBS! The Micromatic had 2 days growth to work with and mowed it down impressively!
