Greetings.... A really great shave; this model valet seems more aggressive than my later model and it delivers a slightly better shave. Regards Dick Your comment really grabbed my eye. The Valets are wonderful razors and I have spent lots of time shaving with various models. But, they are a hard beast to tame in some ways. One way for me is deciding which I truly prefer. I have a couple of these Canadian Valets - mid/late 20's? I haven't actually used one to shave with though and you have my curiosity peaked! I am going to try and get to that in the next few days. Not enough blade options though. Oh well. It is all good they say!!

Thursday
Adjustable Schick ASR blade AOS Badger Proraso red cream WH Stetson
The city had the water off to fix a break when I woke up for work. I used gallon jugs of water to clean up and shave. No time to heat it so a cold water shave. Was not bad. But I look forward to a warm bath and shave this afternoon.

Saturday, 1 December
Gem OCMM Gem SS/PFTE Blade (6) Turkish #6 Brush Arko Shave Stick Pereja Lemon Cologne
I went with the "Turkish Trifecta" both Friday and Saturday: the #6 brush, Arko, and Peraja. The #6 brush just gets better and better for me. The tips are nearly as soft now as my vintage Made-Rite badger.
I got a great shave from the OCMM as expected even with only one pass and touch up. The shave from the HFT was just so-so. I just never seem to get great results from it. It's odd because I love the results I get from the FW and apart from the handle, the two razors are essentially identical.
The Contour is next in the rotation.

Greetings Sunday 2nd December 2012 Prep: Shower Razor: Pal Injectomatic Blade: Schick Krona Edge Vintage Brush: Semogue 830 Boar Soap: Fume Lavender Aftershave: Dove Sensitive balm A super close but not a comfortable shave. I started with a blued ASR carbon blade that came as NOS with a razor but I abandoned it very quickly as it tugged so badly it brought tears to my eyes, I had tried these blades before and wondered if I had judged them prematurely; I have not! I then fitted a Schick Krona Edge NOS blade I think these are 60s/70s blades, they are very sharp but they do tug/drag. I have come to the conclusion that although I am in my sixties I have only been safety razor shaving for about 9 years, consequently I have never really experienced non coated or carbon blades, and I am sure that a coated modern blade glides over the skin and cuts so much smoother than a non coated blade, even if that non coated blade has a superior cutting edge. I have ended up with a really superb shave but it wasn't pleasant getting there! Regards Dick.
