I am really interested in trying a rolls. I saw soneone say something about they were like a straight in that you may never have a perfect edge. That makes sense. Is it possible to get a " good enough" edge?
There is a nice traveler set here local but the hone is cracked. If I got it cheap would it be worth picking up and finding a set to steal the hone from. The set here looks great and has two good looking blades in it. Not sure if worth the trouble or what to offer for it though.
Some of you guys with a rolls help me out here.

Blades are worth $15 if that helps.
Strops can be replaced/refitted, hones are shot once broken, so you'll need to bid on a Rolls with a good stone. This can get expensive, but basically each time you'll get a blade if you bid right.
I can't tell you how to proceed, but I bet I have over $100 invested and have yet to get a shave from mine. I also want to get my strops refurbished so that I can load them with "stuff" to develop the edge. Or maybe I'm all wet and the edge I have is all I can get? I don't know.
At this point all I know is that I have lots of parts. Still learning. Disposable blade safety razors are much easier.

That is what I thought. A rolls is a project in itself. Thanks for the thoughts.
