A gent on another forum told me in a PM of a problem he was having with his 1912, ans as I was reading Iknew my 1912 displayed the same behavior.
He told me how his 1912 won't stay open when he changes the blade. I checked and sure enough it's my 1912 that behaves the same way. Not the Jr, Damaskeene, or 1924 version; only the 1912.
Is this common behavior for the 1912? How does yours act?
He was also wondering if there was a fix for it. I don't repair razors, so I had nothing for him. Is there a way?
I get around it by keeping pressure on the thumb tab and that's what I suggested to him.
Thanks gents!

I have one out of the several I have that is like that. A star maybe. I just keep pressure on it. I do not know of a way to fix it.

Unfortunately, my 30's streamline is the same way. It's rock solid and beautiful, but it will invariable snap shut when it sees the blade incoming. Do you think it expects and demands a higher quality blade?
It's like forcing a child to take cough syrup.
Anyway, I just have keep my thumb on the tab to keep it open and all is good.

Hello there, gentlemen. I am the one who asked Brian what his thoughts were on this behavior. I joined just this week after SharpSpine's recommendation. I will introduce myself in the proper sub-forum, And I look forward to reading your responses. Thanks!

Some follow-up: I very gently utilized some needle nose pliers to adjust the spring and it now locks the head cap up for blade changing and still has enough tension to hold the blade secure when closed.
