Time for a new winter hat, my old one finally bit the dust. Been thinking about getting the Tilley "Winter Hat". REI has them on sale for half price. I have a summer Tilley that I really like. Anyone have any input on this model?
Thanks, Alan

Link?
I have what I call my winter Tilley, but I don't know if it's the same. I require a wide brim, which mine has. My summer Tilley is an airflow.
I love my Tilleys.

Yes Brian, this one has a brim, I think I'm going to get it. Forty dollars seems a good price for a Tilley.

Is it the synthetic thinner fabric? If so I think I paid $80 for mine a bunch of years ago, 3" brim in front, longer in the rear. Price is based on lots of things, but the exchange rate will only get worse for us. Half price? If it's what you want I'd snatch one up. It's a Tilley, you can't go wrong.
I have no idea what colors they come in, but mine is Lt. brown. I love the thing. Incredibly practical hat. Leave it to Canada.

Hey Alan, I have several Tilley hats. $40 for a Tilley is a great deal!! Heres a pic of my winter hat, its a brown wool tweed. It is a good winter hat as long as it doesnt get too cold...my head starts getting cold when it gets below -15c

This is what I consider to be my winter Tilley, again, no "Flow through". Yes, Brian, that's my mug.

Alan, You done good with the purchase of the Tilley Winter Hat. My only concern with getting one at REI is the fitting of the hat correctly. Tilley hats are supposed to fit loosely on your head and not tight like a normal hat. Check out the Tilley Hat Fitting Guide to be sure that you get the right size. Of course REI might actually help you with the proper fit but check this out just for your info. I am sure that REI will exchange the hat for the correct size if needed. I have one and just love it. Love it because it keeps my folically challenged head very warm in the winter. Love it because it looks great. Love it because of the lifetime warranty on it. Love it because of the insurance on it for the first two years. And yes the official Tilley Winter Hat is made of wool. I strongly suggest that you take to the dry cleaner after the winter season and get it cleaned and then it will be ready for another great winter next year. Forgot to mention, my wife bought The Tilley Pub Cap last winter and she loves her's too. Keeps her head and even her ears warm with the built in ear flaps. I hope you got the right size and all but I am also sure you will enjoy this hat tremendously.

Yep, got the right size Bryce, the hat is very warm.
Kevin, with that handlebar you look like a regular musher out of a Jack London novel.

Glad to hear you got your Tilley hat Alan...now you just have to post a picture of you wearing it I am debating getting the Tilley Ivy cap, I have a few flat caps that I wear alot and the Tilley would be a good cooler weather cap. You should consider getting a summer Tilley, they are great in the hot sunny weather and offer great protection from the sun, my fav is the TH4 Hemp. Funny you should mention dog mushing, I used to have a dog team when I lived up North....now Im just known as the Pringles man

Yes, I figured you may have had a team from your avatar. I do have a Tilley air flow that I wear in the summer. Bryce turned me on to the Tilley hats about a year ago. I really like them.
