This week, load up your Treets, Blue Stars, and PALs - anything you want as long as they're not stainless!

Gem MMCP Gem Blue Star Blade (1) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Mennen Skin Bracer AS
I had an excellent shave this morning from the Gem Blue Star blade - close and irritation-free. I always get great results from carbon steel blades. I find myself wondering why I don't use them more often.

Greetings Tuesday 8th January 2012 Prep: Shower Razor: PAL Injecto-Matic Blade: ASR Carbon (NOS) Brush: Semogue 830 Boar Cream: T.O.B.S. Mr. Taylor Aftershave: La Toja I must be mad, Iv'e taken one for the team this morning. These old carbon blades (circa I believe late fifties) pulled like mad, but delivered a great shave, really strange. The first pass was really awful I had tears in my eyes, the second pass was better and the third pass ok, whether this was due to any roughness of the edge wearing off or because by pass three 95% of the beard had been removed so there was nothing left to pull! I suspect there is nothing wrong with these old blades but as we have discussed here before it is just that we are all so used to blades with coatings that 'glide' over the skin. A great finish but an unpleasant and uncomfortable experience getting there! Regards Dick.

Gem Cutlery Damaskeene Gem Blue Star Blade (2) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Pereja Lemon Cologne
I'd say that the combination of the Damaskeene and the Gem Blue Star blade achieved as close to shaving perfection as I've ever had - absolutely marvelous!

Gem Feather Weight Gem CS Blade (2) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Pinaud Clubman AS
I got a pretty decent shave with the "mystery" CS blade. This blade is definitely not as sharp as the Blue Star (nor a SS blade) but it does give respectable results.

Gem 1912 Junior Gem Blue Star Blade (3) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Family Dollar (Vi-Jon) Spice AS
I'm increasingly convinced that either the Junior or the Damaskeene loaded with a carbon steel blade is just about as good as it gets. The shave this morning was absolutely flawless.

Friday, 11 January
Gem Heavy Flat Top Gem CS Blade (3) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Kroger (Vi-Jon) Arctic Blue AS
The shave was a bit on the rough side this morning but the results were still good. I do think this will be my last shave on this blade though.

OCMM Treet D-4 JM Fraser's Booster Iced Lime
I still like the Clog-Pruf better, but a great shave nonetheless.

Saturday, 12 January
Gem OCMM Gem Blue Star Blade (4) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Pereja Lemon Cologne
Another great shave this morning even though the Blue Star is getting a bit old for a CS blade. I'll pop a fresh one into the Contour tomorrow morning.

Gem Contour Gem Blue Star Blade (1) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Family Dollar (Vi-Jon) Spice AS
Great shave this morning using a new Gem Blue Star blade. This has to be one of the best shaves I've gotten from the Contour.

Sunday evening:
1912-Type Star Treet D-6 Ever-Ready 100T reknotted with a TGN black badger La Toja stick Clubman Clasic Vanilla
That all for the Treet. Haven't used a 1912-type SE in a while but everything came together for a nice shave.
