As in title, I was bidding on Excellent Streamliner on eBay.co.uk for last few days I was only bidder for this auction for £2. In last two seconds when I observe finish of auction I was so happy! Then 2 second left outbided by somebody, No chance to react for it.... I hate this feeling, I felt as I was cheated.... Sorry that you didn't get it, but it sounds like someone was willing to pay more than you. After learning the hard way, I always bid in the last two seconds to take care of situations exactly like this. That is, I don't want anyone reacting to what I bid; rather, they should just put in their max price the first time.

Nail your colours to the mast!
If you want something, pipe up ... if someone wants it more, they'll pipe up. But leaving it 'til the last second is not gentlemanly - it's like being punched in the dark, just because they could. Well, turn the lights on and I'll duel for it!
Gah! Snipers ...

Yup that's they on the bay. I use the auto bid that is on the bay. I set highest bid and hope. It's neat and I either win or no. I hate those bidding wars, How much folks spend can turn into a leg lifting episode. So I put the number in and then I see If I win. It's the last 3 seconds when the snipers come out and the e-bay program is fast, real fast!

The problem with bidding early is the nibblers--those that bid early, then when they see that they did not bid high enough the first time, bid again and again until they are the high bidder. This might go on for hours or even days. If you are bidding against one of these people, you will either pay more than you originally had to, or will eventually be outbid by them. This is why I bid at the last minute.

This is why I bid at the last minute. I feel exactly the same way. Whenever an item goes up that I am interested in and it has a lot of days to end I hope no one comes in early. Whenever an early bidder comes in the item ends up costing too much when I see this pattern I don't bid. Early bidding is okay if the item is being sold very cheap and ends up selling at a low price anyway. I too bid at the last moment. If I am determined then I know I have to bid much higher then everyone else but only at the last seconds.

Knowing that I was going to be back late today I used a website called 'Gixen' to snipe on a 1912 I was after. It didn't work and I lost the item which went for less than my highest bid to the first and only bidder. Needless to say I'm disappointed and I won't be using Gixen again. Back to watching and waiting...

I snipe also and use the e-bay bidding program. I either get the item, or someone wanted to pay more than I did. I don't win very often 'cause I'm a cheapskate. I simply won't pay a lot for vintage razors unless it's exquisite, and then I'm always outbid.
It's been quite awhile since I've bought anything on e-bay... 2 years? Has it actually been that long!?
