That is a stunning set! I love reading the old instructions. Waits has a picture of a 1908 set identical to yours and the stropper with it looks the same.

Thought I had this 1909 ad somewhere, took me a while to find it.

Thanks guys!! Tom, that is awesome that you found that ad...sure looks like the razor set that I found. I'm a bit surprised that the stropping handle was part of the set, although it does talk about stropping in the directions. Looks like its missing one section. I'll dig around in some of my old blades, would be nice to have a set of blades in there. Thx again

Gorgeous!
I have a Jr Bar but didn't know that the bar went back all the way and stayed there. Will it work that way on mine as well w/o damage? I was chicken to raise it more than a little for the Spineback blade.

Im not sure Brian..the bar is sort of spring loaded so it snaps upright,,,I checked my other one and they are both the same. Maybe it has something to do with the "New Bar" in Tom's ad??

The picture of the one in Waits looks identical to yours, it appears to only have one handle section attached to the part that holds the blade.

Kevin,
I have the same set but it is not quite as nice as yours. Want to tell you that this razor gives me a great shave every time.
At first I thought I might have trouble with it because of the handle size (small and short) and the weight (rather light). But to my surprise I found it very easy to use. It is one of the three SE razors that are my favorites. The others are my '06 Elite GEM Jr and my '12 GEM Jr with the fat black plastic handle.
Use it well my friend and you will be well satisfied with your shaves.

Extremely beautiful little Bar there.... congrats. Mine is no where near as nice... and lacks a lot of the engraving. But stucturally looks almost if not identical. It is incredibly lite, featherweight actually. Also I have the automatic stropper advertised on the paper. I guess I should sell it to you for $1 plus a few cents for shipping ? LOL Attachments:

It's worth having in a collection wchnu, but I find mine to be quite mild. I don't know if that would change your mind on it or not. It's gives a good shave, but it's mild. That is, if mine is typical, I remember the ER '14 I had...

Lol. I use mild razors too. I use them all. To me the thrill would be using one that old. I have a 1910 and 1911. I would guess it is close to that kind of shave.

For me Gem Jr 'mild' works out as a no pull, no nick, comfortable shaver. If being on the edge of tugging is seen as moderately aggressive, and leaving skin on the floor as aggressive, I guess I am perfectly comfortable with 'mild'. Great razors for me. Pretty good sound experience from these too.
Cranked one up just this morning.
