Greetings Tuesday 5th February 2013 Prep: Shower Razor: GEM Micromatic OC Blade: GEM Blue Star Carbon Brush: Vie Long 13061M Horse Soap: Speick grated into a container Aftershave: Simple Balm My very first shave with a modern carbon SE blade and I admit that I was surprised with just how good a shave it produced. As many of you know carbon SE blades are not available for purchase in the UK other than from the states with a ridiculous postage cost. These blades came from a member of another forum in the UK together with a razor. I found that the blade did not glide over the skin in quite the same way as the stainless PTFE coated ones but it cut every bit as well (possibly better) the only down side I can see (apart from availability) is they need to be removed from the razor and wiped dry. I noticed it had stained straight away after a single shave and I am sure they would rust overnight. I have tried NOS carbon blades before but they have been somewhere between poor and crap in the shave they delivered. I read that Tom believes that these and the Treets are very likely the same blade, are there any other observations on this point, ie is it worth me trying the Treets as well? Regards Dick.

Gem OCMM Gem SS/PFTE Blade (7) Made-Rite 500PB Brush Arko Shave Stick Pereja Lemon Cologne
I had a surprisingly nice shave with the HFT - a surprise because the HFT usually gives me the least desirable experience of any of my Gems. As for the OCMM - excellent as always.

I read that Tom believes that these and the Treets are very likely the same blade, are there any other observations on this point, ie is it worth me trying the Treets as well? I agree with Tom. I think that the Blue Stars and the Treets are exactly the same blade.

Saturday 2/9
Razor: GEM OCMM Blade: GEM Stainless coated Brush: TGN synthetic knot in Certifyd handle Lather: Palmolive shave stick Post: Alum, Lucido, Unrefined Shea Butter
Results: Great shave! My best so far with this razor. As I mentioned earlier, I got rid of my previous OCMM because I thought it was too aggressive and I rarely used it. Since then my technique has improved and I bought another one. It's not my favorite razor, but it's growing on me!
