It looks like you do have a match between the razor and the box. This kit is known as the Star No. 1. The year 1919 saw American Safety Razor purchase Kampfe razors and to the best of my knowledge the Star No.1 was the first 'rebranded' Star wedge razor marketed by the newly formed company. They changed the handle, came out with a new box and logo presentation and marketed this item beginning in 1919 - the year they took over the company.
It was short lived however and either is, or is close to being, the last Star wedge razor manufactured. (They were sold for perhaps a couple more years at most.) There was so much competition by that time from various 'disposable' blade companies like Gillette, Gem and many others, that the market for these had slowed considerably. It is also entirely possible that ASR planned to phase out the wedge quickly once acquiring Kampfe, as the bulk of their business was involved with the disposable wafer blade. (Please note that this info is what I have come to understand based on my own research and may not necessarily be totally accurate.)
The issue you have with the blade clamp is problematic. It could be difficult to replace the clamp if you were able to secure spare parts (sorry I haven't any spare frames). It may be possible though if you can match the parts. You had best be careful if you use it for shaving as is - if the blade does decide to pop out while you are shaving, you might want a large bottle of styptic powder near by.
A nice piece of history - and a good shaver if you can make it work for you.

Hmm. It actually comes off quite simply as it is just held in by a screw similar to an eyeglass screw with a meatier head and a sort of integrated washer. The unfortunate thing is everyone of these sort of has a different solution for this part's design. I'm going to see if anyone has a thrashed head or parts or parts at all so I can use this. If not I'll probably move it along at cost to someone who collects to collect bc I enjoy being able to use this equipment. In NYC where I live, gems are plentiful, but these are impossible to come by. Thank you for clarifying about the box. I've only seen the tin with the star handle.

Yeah, I only tested an inconspicuous area. It holds but it isn't worth the risk. The retainer on the same side as the spring has some wear. I think the man who owned this was left-handed and that is why that side ate more wear. It has an odd angle for a SE. I purchased a bunch of stuff today and

I wish I knew! IDK what I originally typed. It was cut off somehow. I do know I bought a lot of truly nice stuff including a slim aristocrat but was most excited about acquiring this by a large margin. Not having any luck finding that part though.
