Wow!! I haven't been getting that much sleep lately....As you remember Tom was sending me something to bring me up to speed with the Sharp-Side of the pool....and it usually takes a letter a week to 10 days to make it here; Istanbul; from the U.S. Well we are now over 3 weeks!!! Yikes!! Well it got here today....He said he wanted each generation of SE represented....Man...I'm knocked out....Everything is beautiful.....and he included stainless coated blades and carbon steel blades aswell... So it's an Ever Ready 1912, an OCMM, and a HFT (G-Bar).....I will be shaving and reviewing, starting today.... I would call for a round of applause for Tom, but I know he would rather I call for a round of applause for Tost and the brotherhood and generousity found here... Attachments:

I'm actually surprised the troopers allow him to keep that beard! That's gotta look cute with the campaign hat.

Soon it will be an old beater Gem at a 2nd hand store. Maybe an exciting find or two at a flea market. The odd drop in at an antique store sooner or later resulting in buying that one you 'really liked. It was a great deal'. Before you know it a 'special' one 'mislisted' on eBay. Then....... MUAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHHAAA!We have another collector!

Each one of these razors is a beauty....the ER 1912 with the ornate handle is such a classic beauty...I think every shave-cave should have one.... Of course everybody knows the HFT is a sexy beast...But I had no idea the OCMM was such a charmer...Her manners are impeccable and even though she has claws she's a real 'pussy-cat'....I have used her for at least a pass or two for the last 3 days and haven't received one weeper from her...She has been the biggest surprise for me...So intuitive and dare I say it....easy... I remember reading where HT asked somebody, "Isn't it cool to know Gem beat Gillette to the TTO punch..." Yeah, it is....and in what style and grace they did it!! The solid feel of the mechanism, and the way the head slides back and then opens...very futuristic for an eighty year old beauty... Theres no way out...as far as the 1912 is concerned...There is a special feeling when dragging a 101 year old razor design around your face and getting such a close shave...Thats a really hard act for most any razor since to compete with...But I have to say, that the OCMM has her own way of dealing with this... She has her own very strong personality that can't be denied...She looks like one of the antenna'ed gadjets from the Jetsons, or maybe 'Buck Rodgers'...and she shaves like a shavette with the manners of an injector...Quite extraordinary! These are just some of my observations so far...Its way to soon for me to draw conclusions...For now I'm just thinking out loud.... Later, and great shaves to everyone...

Well as I said yesterday....it was way too soon for me to be jumping to conclusions.... Well today I hand stropped the blade for shave #4 and put it into this OCMM, and grabbed my brush and shaving cup with the Arko stick shmushed in it. And as I was going to slide to my shave cave, that pretty gold 1912 winked at me...I'm not kidding....some light from the window caught that shiney gold head of the 1912 and she wink....What could I do? So I took her along too...
Well, I did both cheeks from sideburn to jawline...simple, a couple strokes each and damn near BBS...as I started to do my top lip the OCMM kind of stuck...I approached from the other side and it started to slide but stopped...I'm thinking, maybe I need to rinse ,relather and make a new approach...
But then I saw that 1912 laying there...She such a looker, maybe a bit older but a stone cold beauty, with that ornate handle, her gold plate looks like it was done yesterday, and her closed teeth are perfect...So, I thought I'd give her a shot on that top lip just for comparison sake...This time I gripped her a little different than I have before...A finger tip hold closer to her neck, where as before I always held her at the base of her handle...
Well she proceeded to shave her *ss off...she cleaned the top lip off lickety split...BBS of the highest order and manuevered around my nostrils and nose like an injector...Whew!! So I tried the bottom lip which is always my trouble spot...still with the new grip which seems to make the perfect angle the only choice....Wow...she cleaned that bottom lip better in one pass than any razor I've ever held...Now she's like on a mission...she's kickin' every razor's *ss in recent memory...lol...Neck clean as a whistle and irritation free...and I mean shining...
I don't need to but since I've seemed to find her magic angle...I relathered and did a complete ATG pass with this lovely lady to allow her to strut her stuff...
Thats It...Maybe the best 2 passes of all time...After that first pass I was BBS, but as I started the ATG pass I could hear this little vixen sliceing whiskers she found that I couldn't...The sound was scary but she was gentle and pampering me in grand style...
The micromatic is still a pure charmer, but this lovely in all her art nouveau grandeur, is one razor who doesn't hesitate to fight for her turf...And if I continue to get shaves like this, she has nothing to worry about.
So at this point...I'm inclined to join Tom and those who say the 1912 is the finest razor design ever...and I have to ask....just what have razor designers been doing for the last century?...lol...although ER did make some beauts with the '14's and 24's. and Gem did invent the micromatic....so whats been happening in the last 80 years....
