Right. So we checked out the prices on eBay, and they were pretty insane. So we did what we always do, and got the stuff from the horse's mouth. One of you guys will notice that there are more blades in the package than needed. They're yours - you know who you are But on with the show. Enjoy. The package from Sweden has arrived... The tension mounts... Yup. SE stuff. Some blades. Unmarked. Dang. A fingerprint. Just to be on the safe side, I got myself an Allegro Model E with K11 extension. A C.V. Heljestrand Lather Catcher made for Kindal, France. Looks pretty decent after all these years. Mounting the blades is fun. Kindal, the company for which these were built.
Ekilstuna, where we picked this one up. Now I wish I hadn't shaved with a GEM Clog Pruf today.

Well, we could have got a few NOS ones, but they came as is, ie no box, no stropping extension, no blades. And aluminium handles instead of these solid steel ones. However, we wanted ours with all the bells and whistles. So we just got the blades.
Now, if USPS managed to lose my Wotan, I'll fly over to the States and kill every one of their staff. Just thought I'd mention it. The Wotan (pristine condition, full set) has been overdue for three weeks now.
It is quite amazing how well these SEs shave (at least the GEMs I have tried so far). Granted, a well honed cut-throat is still a cut above, but that really is the only shaving tool I know that works that well. I am, quite honestly, quite excited to test the Heljestrand.

Wonderful to see this exciting package unpacked before our eyes! Very exciting stuff. It is great to see the packets of blades too. I imagine you are going to have some kick *ss shaves with this gear.
Mmmmmmmm. Heljestrands finest edges. Awesome!!! Looking forward to hearing all about the blades!
And I am sure you meant you would 'encourage USPS staff' to locate your package. I do know the frustrations of waiting on items that take forever to come. Canada Post. Say no more.

Thank you. I was really pleasantly surprised by the razor's performance. It shows good potential still. I'll experiment a bit more with the honing process - I might coax it into an even crisper edge. But right now, it already outshaves the GEM blades, and quite easily. Much less aggressive, yet at least equally sharp. Mind you, I have a very thick beard that always benefits from less flexible blades. If you are blond, this may not necessarily be the case.
