If there is a day (or days) this week that you choose not to follow the theme, we'd like to see your shaves posted here.

07 May 2013Pre: Proraso Crema Pre Barba Razor: Rhodium GEM OCMM + Pella PTFE (7) Brush: E7XL Burly + WSP Finest XD 27/50 Soap: Martin de Candre Signature (75)AS: Krampert's Finest Bay Rum -- Hip Flask So after using the Bronner's as a pre yesterday I developed a good bit of irritation. It took a couple of hours to start noticing it, but by lunch I knew. So today I used the same razor and blade, but I subbed back in the Proraso pre and I had a much better shave. It's now been 3 hours since the shave and zero irritation. It doesn't appear that the good Dr. Bronner will be used on my face again.

Still trying to find the perfect SE. In this picture, today's candidates. A later generation Henckels Rapide in its red tin box, and an EverReady Whatever. The Rapide is one out of three, with one apparently being an early model which came with a little spanner and no blade stops. This one is fun to use. The blade is an original one with only Rapide etched into it. It needs some more work to match the Pella blade in the EverReady, but works OK already. The EverReady appears to be an earlier model, and provides really great shaves. The little jars are samples for one of the members here. I hope he'll enjoy them. Personally, I used Scottish Fine Soaps. Like Mitchell's Wool Fat, only more with a more refined scent, and much better performance. Nice stuff.

Looks like an Ever-Ready Touring Deluxe,an early 1920's version of the Ever-Ready 1914 There's a good TOST thread on it here: theoriginalsafetytoo.com/thread/92/ready-1914-little-lather-catcherA couple of pictures of one of mine:

Wednesday 5/8
Razor: Ever Ready 1914 Blade: GEM Stainless coated Brush: VDH Pure Badger Lather: Poraso Green cream Post: Alum, Lucido, Unrefined Shea Butter
Results: This BBS was no surprise. The ER 1914 never lets me down. I'm suspecting that I may have bought the wrong blades from EMS earlier. I just wasn't getting the GREAT SE shaves I was used to. Maybe my blades were un-coated? This time I used a GEM stainless coated blade from Rite-Aide or Walgreens and the thrill is back! Next bulk buy will be from Connaught...

Razor: GEM Bullet-tip Micromatic Blade: GEM Stainless coated Brush: Semogue 1305 boar Lather: Poraso Green cream Post: Alum, Lucido, Unrefined Shea Butter
Results: The bullet-tip (and it's close relative the Clog-Pruf) are my most comfortable SE razors. If I take my time, like today, it gives a BBS result as well.Great start to the day!
