The first shave wasn't bad. However, I noticed the spine of my blade moved back and forth between the head and the base of the razor. The blade edge did not move, but I am a little concerned the spring isn't doing the job it is intended to do. I compared the new PTFE Gem blade and the old blades that came with the razor. I noticed spine was much thicker on the old blades as well as the width of the older blade was shorter than the new ones. A question for all my friends here. Do you need to shim the blade to prevent the up and down movement, or is my Dame destined for the shelf? BTW, after the cool down from the aftershave, the razor produced a very nice shave.

Ive noticed a slight wiggle of the blade as you mentioned, with my D shaves. I wouldnt worry about it. The spring may be bent a little, but I wouldnt risk trying to bend it back. Ive broken a 1912 before trying to "adjust" it. Just enjoy the best shaves a razor can give.

A member on another site took the spines off of a couple old vintage blades and puts them on the new ones, because they are thicker. I've never had an issue with the blade moving around that I can recall.

I've never had that problem with any of my shave worthy razors either. Now I did have an unsuccessful time with an OCMM that I didn't realize had bad blade stops. Ate my face up so badly, I almost quit SE shaving. Luckily a nearly pristine version arrived soon after and with some help from some online shavers, I realized the incredible joy that an OCMM can bring.
