Being relatively new to the SE world I have recently acquired 5 Gem razors. One of these razors is a Gem Minuteman (travel razor). I have been unsuccessful in finding the answers to my questions which makes me think I might have an oddball razor. One of the blade stops is slightly thinner and a bit smaller then the other. From what I can see it does not appear to be worn away at all but looks to be this way originally. The blade stop does hold the razor blade no problem. Due to this blade stop being slightly thinner and smaller it appears to give the blade a bit of an uneven alignment. I apologize if the picture isn't the best quality since my camera is quite old. I wonder if I am making this into an issue but it isn't. Does anyone have a razor with a similar blade alignment as mine? Is this more common then I think?

I'm inclined to think that a little variability in the width of the blade stops is not uncommon. These were stamped out and likely there weren't tight tolerances on the measurements. That is just an opinion though.
I wonder if the misalignment on the blade is due to the stop being slightly bent during a minor knock over ther years? Could it be readjusted?

I'd say your right that not every razor is made perfect a little bit of odds and ends will occur. Looking through several pictures online I will see blade stops differences such as mine once in a while. I never thought about the blade stop being a tad bent, I have never tried to bend a stop (readjust it). If my camera was far better I could show more pictures to see if it looked as if the stop in question is slightly bent. Though observing it over and over it just looks like the irregularity comes from it being a bit smaller though not worn down. I will see if pliers could do the trick though I hope it doesn't snap off being that the stop looks fragile. Another thing I have noticed is that the handle screws out easily as if there is not a lot of thread. Just a bit of pressure and the handle screws off quickly. Inside the latch where the Gem logo is etched the G in the logo is only partly done with all of these little odd attributes I call it the oddball razor.

That is one possible side effect of tinkering with a razor's bits - breaking something. Please don't do that based on my comment. I would feel awful if that happened.
I have had the odd razor where the blade sat at an angle like that. I don't recall whether I solved anything, but I do remember the shaves were not great.
Not sure your best move here.

RocketMan, I decided to might as well use it after keeping it lying around for quite a while. Finding the solution requires to alter the stop or leave it be. Early in the morning the razor finally got to work. I'm in great luck I didn't notice any difference in performance compared to my other SE razors. If anything it was smooth sailing just like the others.
It does have a slight slant look though. Try as I could I couldn't see any negative consequence from it's odd blade alignment. If the performance was bad I would definitely use pliers and tweak the blade stop in question. It only cost me under 10 dollars it's one of the best purchases I have made.
