It came time to face my fear of the legendary breast. Armed with determination and grit, I approached the lair of the beast. Slowly, I opened the gateway of its den. I gazed upon the sleeping beast, knowing full well, it will awaken as soon as it smells its favorite food. Just look at those teeth. I could swear I could hear the echoes of past victims urging me not to go any further. But I must master my fear. I will not let beast win without a fight. Arise you flesh-eating beast! Time for you to do battle with Papabear. Once again I could faint whispers of specters past, but this time, it sounded more of snickers and laughter. "Yes, you too, Papabear, will succumb to the beast. Nay, I say with conviction. Arise, beast, it is time to feed. I pried open its jaws and placed its food of choice, coated stainless steel, into the mouth of the beast. While chewings its food, I prepared myself for battle. Donning my war paint, a thick, white derby lather, I seized the beast by its neck. The battle was underway. The beast slid down both my cheecks. I could feel its nature, wanting to rip me to shreds; but the battle continued. Across my neck, the battle raged. The beast feasted on stubble that few razors dared to tread. Where is your bite toothy one? Could your legend be only myth and hype. Nay says the beast; with that it struck my chin... Realizing my overconfidence did my in, I continued the battle until the end. I must say the reputation of the OCMM is well deserved. The razor is the most aggressive one I have ever tried. Although I survived this round, tomorrow would be a different day.

Nice write up. I too have been doing battle with one of these Beasts for a few days now. You are alright as long as it knows who the master is

You have a nice way with words. I had a smile on my face the entire time.
Yes, let your guard down and it takes that opportunity to bite. Stay in tune to it and on your toes and it behaves and gives one heck of a shave. It's definitely worth mastering.
Yesterday I had 11 shaves on a ER '05 Lather Catcher and it was starting to get a bit dicey becasue of the head flexing of the LC. So I put the blade into the OCMM and it should be good for another few shaves anyway. The OCMM is much more stable platform for a blade with that many shaves on it.

Your triumph over the beast makes me want to get one even more. I also like the case it came with good going!

Great use of words I have spot kinda behind my jaw that I have to be careful with. If I get lazy the ole gal will bite. Usually I get a smooth close easy shave though. Keep at it. It is well worth the time it takes to get use too.

I have yet to come to appreciate this particular razor. My experiences have been less than satisfactory. But your story has me wanting to climb into the den and try again to leash this fiend.
Tomorrow morning I will give it another try. Down Beast! Obey me darn you!

This inspired me to use an OCMM this morning with a stainless GEM blade for an outstanding shave.I really enjoy using the Micromatics, with the exception of the Flying Wing, and should use them more often than I do.

For those of you keeping score at home, here are the results of the last three rounds:
Round 1: Papabear 10 OCMM 8 Round 2: Papabear 7 OCMM 10 Round 3: Even
As you can see I am behind in points in this battle royal. Can Papabear go the distance of 5 rounds with the dreaded beast? Or, will the beast claim another victim in its storied career? It looks bad for our hero. Tune in for round 4 tonight.

I think you can get better shaves from the OCMM by loving it rather than fighting or wrestling with it....lol!! At least mine could be easily loved into incredibly easy shaves....because you can never tame that beast with force....

No! You can't lose this battle! I'm sure you will get the hang of it you are still trying to master the beast. What razor blade are you using?

Well, I don't want to admit this (because it is so much fun to diss the MM!!) but my OCMM shave this morning was thoroughly enjoyable!!
It is an 'active' razor and it certainly makes the blade very interactive in the shave. There is an awareness throughout that too much pressure or poor handling will have unwanted results. Yep. But...
I had a great shave really. I went all the way through for a BBS just to give it the full meal deal. And... it didn't disappoint.
Heck. I might even drag it out again without waiting another year!!!
Thnx for the inspiration with your Besting the Beast Boast!

No! You can't lose this battle! I'm sure you will get the hang of it you are still trying to master the beast. What razor blade are you using? Well fans, round four had some surprises. It appears Papabear is not throwing in the towel. What?! He is going old school. Is that Noxzema that I see? Indeed it is. Papabear is going back to the days of his father's instruction. Papabear is putting a coating of Noxzema on and following with a hot towel to soften his gray, grizzled beard. More Noxzema? Yes, Papabear is Noxzema as a preshave. What's I hear the old bear muttering? I believe it is, angle, zero pressure and stroke. Yes, Papabear is remembering his father's instructions from so many years ago. Wow, PB's strokes are much shorter than before. His grip on the beast has changed slightly. On no the troubled soul patch area. Wait, no blood. This reporter can't believe his eyes. The beast has been knocked down. But will the next pass spell doom for the old Bear? What's this more Noxzema? I can see the confidence in the Bear. Do I see a smile? Yes, I do. Is he enjoying the shave? In this reporters eyes, I can safely say yes. As you can see, I had a great shave, but I needed to remember some old tricks from father. While I didn't score a TKO, last nights shave was very, very nice.
