Thanks to a friend from another forum I received a "puck" of Green Mountain Soap as a surprise. The scent is Balsam Spice which the company describes thusly... "Balsam Spice: This unique scent derived from pure essential oils evokes the spicy tang of fresh snow on fir trees. Top notes of Camphor, Fennel, Spruce and Spearmint are a pleasant mix of fresh mint and balsam. Middle notes of sweet spice come from Ylang-Ylang, Nutmeg and Clove, tempered by the fresh, woody, earthy scent of Siberian Fir. The earthy-mossy, leathery aroma of Oakmoss and the vanilla-like nuances of Peru Balsam ground this versatile addition to your rotation of shaving soaps." Anyone here try this brand yet? If so, any thoughts as to what it compares to?

A quick search revealed that one other member here is using Green Mountain Soap as well. Said member would like to state the following: I used to live about a five minutes's walk away from what I believe to be Europe's best stocked shaving shop. I was allowed to carry home samples (as in, full jars for visitors to smell) every weekend. There are exactly two soaps that, in my humble opinion, perform better: Xpec and Lorenzo Villoresi. Both cost about five times as much. The Straight Razor Magazine has a full review of these soaps. If you read it carefully (the part about adding more water in particular), you will get a lot of fun out of it. I have grated mine into an old St James of London jar. Classy, functional, and even easier to lather. Recommended? You bet.
