After a shaving about week with the MMCP here are my conclusions. The Clog-Pruf , while having a strong family resemblance to the open comb brother in looks and operation, the CP is much more tame that the OC. In fact, I find the CP extremely mild for a SE razor. This not to say the Clog-Pruf is not a good razor. In fact I quite enjoyed using it. The shaves I had with the CP were smooth and irritation free. Certainly the MMCP has a place in my rotation, but he is far from my favorite; especially since I discovered a long legged beauty called Lady J...

Lol, I actually feel just like you. I didn't find the MMCP to be the best shaver out there in fact it was quite average. I did experience a bit of a rough shave with it (not an extreme) this may also be due to the blade. Have you tried the Heavy Flat Top? It isn't my favorite but I liked it more then the MMCP. To me The OCMM is much better of the Micromatics.

Drumz, I have tried the HFT; in fact, that razor was my first venture into the SE world. I use it every now and then, but it is generally relegated as my travel set. I find the HFT takes more effort on my part to achieve the same level of smoothness as compared to some of my other razors.

Wow...YMMV sure is prevalent in this department:-) Maybe differences in model years or just QC...I really can't tell the the differences in aggression between my CP and OC...But although the closeness of the shaves are similar I do notice my sensitive areas such as my bottom lip, prefer the 2nd & 3rd passes done with the CP...also ATG razor "buffing" with the CP is a joy, where I wouldn't buff with the OC period!:-)

Thanks to a generous PIF, I too have a MMCP to go with my lovely OCMM and I also find them to be very different creatures. I think this is surprising since superficially they look almost identical apart from the comb and this reveals a lot about what is and isn't important in razor geometry. The OCMM is definitely the star performer but the CP for me requires less concentration and is a bit more relaxed. This ties in with a discussion we were having about 1912s, how the trend in razor design through the 20th century has been to make the shaving experience more and more accessible so that everyone can get a reasonable result first time, but sometimes at the cost of excellence. The progression from straight razors to cartridges shows this but clearly here in the 21st century we are part of a razor devolution

... any difference between the 17 and 13 tooth versions? I have a 17 tooth and yes, milder than the open comb, but I still thought it very capable.
Hopefully, I've just snagged a 13 tooth. EDIT: Yes, it's mine now ... fingers crossed it's a good 'un.

My man Alan told me, he believed that the 13 tooth was a tad less aggressive...and he also recommended a test drive was one as apparently it acquits it's self quite admirably...

Had my second shave with the Clogpruf and am very impressed this time. It's smooth, forgiving and aggressive enough to do the job . I shaved when I was tired and a bit rushed - I would not use the OCMM under those conditions, so it was time for the Clogpruf to shine!

I've found one difference; The skin bevel is different. Look closely side by side and you will see that the bevel on the MMCP is longer.
