Ever Ready 1914, Gem Carbon blade, Haslinger sheep milk soap and a restored Rubberset No.4 with TGN finest. Very close shave 2-pass shave, maybe a tad too close. The little catcher and a carbon bblade make a very effective combo. The Sheep is one heck of a soap.

24 June 2013Razor: GEM OCMM + Pella PTFE (6) Brush: Elite7 Scarlett + WSP HMW 23/50 Soap: Fiori & Frutta UOMO (DOVO) -- Mint AS: Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum -- Hip Flask Finally got a really nice shave from this soap. I guess that means that the Feather SEs just aren't great for me. But time will tell as I've only had 2 shaves on the Feathers. The Feather Pros in the Cobra just start getting really good on the 3rd shave. I was happy though that the lather isn't the cause of my weepers. I just love the smell of this mint, it makes me want to eat it. Smells just like good peppermint candy.

Honey, I Shrunk the CPMMPurely for the chuckles, here is a picture of a 4125/6 Thäter I recently acqiured. I would not use this brush with any expensive soap or cream, because in the picture, it holds enough lather for a 30 pass shave. But with an affordable and highly efficient product like Green Mountain Shoap's shaving soap, why not? One has to give it to Thäter that they know how to source high quality badger hair. Despite its gargantuan size (15cm height, 35mm ring diameter), the brush has more backbone than the vast majority of low price shaving brushes I have tried. Enough has been said about the softness of Thäter tips, so I will not repeat that. Overall, a fun brush. Certainly nothing for everyday use (if your rotation of shaving products contains those in the €50+ range), but, well, fun.

26 June 2013 -- Kai Titan Mild Trial
Razor: Cobra Classic Blade: Kai Titan Mild (1) -- Thanks Hanzo! Brush: Elite7 XL Burly + WSP Finest XD 27/50 Soap: P.160 AS: Krampert's Finest Bay Rum
An interesting shave this morning. I recently received a nice gift from Hanzo of a couple Kai Titan Mild blades to try in my Cobra (I greatly appreciate your generosity Hanzo) and it was a different experience. There was quite a bit of tugging which is a new experience for me with this razor. The Feather Pros just slice effortlessly without a hint of resistance. The tugging sensation I got this morning reminded me of my trial with the original toothcomb R41 '11. The shave experience was rough, but it sure did leave my face smooth as glass. No cuts, no weepers, and no irritation. Just not the most enjoyable experience during the shave. I certainly can't fault the end result though. I must admit that handling these blades outside of the injector cartridge does pose a daunting task so there is the possibility that I damaged the edge and these results may not be typical. Thankfully, Hanzo sent 2 for me to try. I look forward to seeing what I can get out of this first blade, then going back to a Feather Pro blade before finishing up with the 2nd Kai blade.
