My wife presented me with an early anniversary present on our way back home from our antique/thrift store milk run. It was a full bottle of Avon Wild Country in a 1957 Chevy decanter without the top and a pristine Tuckaway from that other company Anyway, she asked if I was going to use the Tuckaway. I pretty much given up on DE razors because of the irritation and ingrown hairs I receive from them. The only ones that did ok were a Slim and a Red Tip. Otherwise, I had to be content with a 1-2 pass shave. But I couldn't refuse those baby blue eyes of my bride. So I did my usual cleaning and sterilizing of the razor and placed my favorite blade in it. After my usual prep, I went to work. Well needless to say shave was subpar to any I have had with a SE razor. My wife also noticed the difference. I had a lot more redness to my face than usual. In fact, it look like I had a few too many rounds with Evan Williams. She also noticed I was rough around the edges compared to last few weeks. Enough with DEs! It is only SEs from now on. Lesson learned the hard way.

You did the right thing. I'd have used it to, even knowing it would be a bad shave.

Well once you go SE you never ... It's too bad that you have a bad experience with DE razors. Good thing that you have all those beautiful SE razors that come to your rescue.

Been there....there now as a matter of fact....Just piffed my '65 Slim in a set I put together for a surgeon friend, who actually probably saved my life 5 years ago....We see each other pretty regularly as he has always been a friend of my wife's family....Out of the blue he asked if I knew anything about razors and shaving....Said he was looking for a better shave...He was currently using carts....I need the thin the herd myself....the DE's are history....Out of respect for this friend I did offer him a Single Edge razor first, but they don't sell SE blades in Turkey and he wasn't interested in having to get into mail-ordering blades...So he's going the DE route now...It is a big step up from carts, but man....Theres nothing like a great Single edge or Injector Shave....My SE's have even shut down my Shavette....
