Taking advantage of West Coast Shaving's free shipping on July 4th, I purchased a some creams and soaps I have been wanting to try. Although I have never had the pleasure using Old Spice's shaving soap, I wanted to see how this cream performs. I am generally a tallow snob, but I decided to give a few glycerin soaps a try. Over the next couple of weeks I will report my findings on a bunch of different soaps and creams.
First up, Shulton Old Spice Lathering Shaving Cream.
Manufature location: India
Ingredients: D.M. Water, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Luraic acid, Myristic acid, Glycerin, Boric acid, Perfume, Sodium Silicate Soln., Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Disodium EDTA
Positive aspects of the product (pros): Widely available, Leaves skin feeling refreshed, Lathers well
Cons: Not the slickest of creams. Also, there is no menthol listed, there is definitely a tingly, cooling presence that may put off some.
Price: 7. Not bad for the classic scent, but others are available that perform better at a lower cost. I paid $9.00 USD for it.
Quality: 8-9
Scent: 10. Old Spice baby!
Latherability: 9. The cream produced a good amount of lather from a 3/4" of product. There was plenty for at least 3 passes.
Efficacy: 7. Initially it was dry, so I needed to add more water. I might have not added enough. I will update later on this.
Moisturizing Properties: 8
Packaging: 10
If you like the classice Old Spice scent, give this a go, if you can it for a good price. Otherwise, this cream IMHO is a bit over priced compared to the performance.
