This is the last of our soap tales. Today I will review Ogallala Bay Rum and Orange Shaving Soap.
Manufature location: United States of America
Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Castor Oil,Safflower Oil, Glycerin, Purified Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Sorbitol, Shea Butter, Sorbitan Oleate, Soybean Protein,Titanium Dioxide,Bentonite Clay,& Fragrance
Positive aspects of the product (pros): Widely available. Great moisturizing properties.
Cons: If there is any, I can not put my finger on it.
Price: 9. Oustanding product at a very good price point. I paid $4.75 USD for a 4.5 oz. puck.
Quality: Solid 10. This is a fantastic glycerin soap.
Scent: 10. This is one fantastic smelling shaving soap. Ogallala does not have an intense bay rum aroma. In fact it is the subtle under tone next to the sweet orange which is the dominant scent. Once lathered, orange spice fills the air. This soap begs the question, "I wonder if I can eat it?' The fragrance is trhat nice
Latherability: 8. It took me a little to understand how to lather this soap. Once understood, Ogallala rewarded me with tons of slick and creamy lather.
Efficacy: 9. Slick and smooth. Ogallala is on par with my favorite soap, Cella. However, it may be my tallow snobbery, but Mitchell's Wool Fat I believe is slicker.
Moisturizing Properties: 10+. This is where this soap shines. The oils and shea butter make the face feel great and very kissable according to my wife.
Packaging: 10. Simple and well done. The box is solid with the soap carefully wrapped inside. Be advised this is just the puck, no container is supplied. However, a GladWare round container does well to hold the soap.
This soap delivered more than I expected; in fact, Ogallala revealed that glycerin based soap pucks can produced a truly wonderful shaving experience. Most of the soaps in these tales have change my mind about tallow vs glycerin. I hope you enjoyed reading about all of the products I reviewed as much as I enjoyed using them.
Hopefully I can convince SWMBO that I need more soap because I hear Mike's Natural Soaps and Prairie Creations calling my name.
