This ER 100T actually worked really well with the original boar knot, and this style handle is one of my favorites, but I looked at it and decided it needed a little something to dress it up a little. So, I popped out the knot and replaced it with a TGN 22 mm Black Badger which I think made it look a lot better. It's set since Friday night to make sure the Liquid Nails silicone adhesive set up good and solid, and I plan on test driving it tomorrow morning. Here it is with the original knot. I trimmed the hairs down close to the handle and decided to try to remove the knot like I did on the ER 300N so I put this little scratch awl on the knot and hit it a couple times with a hammer, and voila, the knot split into several pieces and fell into the hollow handle. It was then a simple matter of pulling the pieces out with a pair of needle nose pliers. The knot was actually held in the white sleeve that was in the handle. It made for a perfect fit for the 22 mm knot, no sanding or grinding was necessary, by leaving out the sleeve. Here it is with the new knot, I think it's a nice mix of black and white. It looks like it's going fast, even when it's setting still! The lettering on the bottom wasn't painted at the factory so I left it that way.

Looks nice, but the traditionalist in me would have liked to see it stay a boar knot. Not criticizing, mind you. You do great work!

I tend to agree with you William, but when I put the TGN Black Badger into the handle for a test fit it was a done deal. It's funny that you mention staying with the original boar knots because I'm embarking on a rather large project of restoring quite a few and most of them are getting boar knots just like their original, and a couple are getting pure badgers because that's what's stamped on the handles. I'm awaiting a large order of boar knots and a couple others that should arrive this week. Stay tuned...

I like it. The 100 and 200 series are some of my favorite styles.

As I said, please don't take what I said as criticism. I think you do incredible restorations! I would love to be able to have the time to do that as I am a freak for old ER brushes! Keep up the great work!

I like it. The 100 and 200 series are some of my favorite styles. I've accumulated a nice little assortment of the variations in this line that I'm working on. Tom, I like that best of all you have shown us so far. Thanks Alan. I see you are being knotty againTom! What will you do with all your creations once completed? They go on display in various locations and get used in a semi-structured rotation. As I said, please don't take what I said as criticism. I think you do incredible restorations! I would love to be able to have the time to do that as I am a freak for old ER brushes! Keep up the great work! Not at all, and thanks. I used this on this morning. It worked pretty good, but I think the Ace Shaving black badger may be a better knot. This one seemed a bit denser. Of course, it's not fair to judge anything on just one use, but the Ace Shaving knots are really, really good.
