Stopped at a small town antique store and scored some goodies today Two glass Old Spice cologne bottles, the small one is pretty well empty but the large one is full The Old Spice Short Cut jar is empty, I am going to fill it with some type of pomade The boxed Old Spice shaving mug isnt too old but it has a new, unused puck of OS soap in it!! Scored a couple of brushes This Rubberset would be nice restored with a new knot I really like this Ever Ready, I would love to have this one polished up and re-knotted...is it do-able? Also scored a British Gillette Slim Twist and a really cool Gillette Old Type I know this isnt the place to post DE razors but I thought I would share one pic of the Old Type It is an advertising razor for the Vancouver Province, a newspaper from Vancouver B.C. Thanks Kevin

Nice finds! I'm sure the ER could be polished up. Is the top band metal?

One excellent find. You can't go wrong with anything Old Spice. The original OS soap I couldn't wait to try that! That is one gorgeous silver & black Ever-Ready brush. The old type Gillette is one efficient shaver I haven't found a modern DE that beats vintage Gillette razors. It looks like those OS bottles are in great shape. Everything here is a win.

Nice score!
The old type is silver plated too! You know to "polish" it with hot salt and baking soda solution and aluminum foil, yes? Any abrasive just wears away the silver. After a good washing with detergent I leave it in the solution for a s long as it takes. Brushing with an old toothbrush (in the solution does seem to help, or makes the waiting more tolerable. It could take a few hours for the reversal reaction to fully complete.

That is a flat out awesome score! The ER brush looks unused, I am so envious right now. Congrats, and thanks for sharing!

Since you brought it up I did do the aluminum foil/baking soda soak, I then gave it a very light polish with Flitz and a microfibre cloth..it still needs a bit of polishing near the ball end, but it is looking much better

I was reading The Province just this morning. That is a great ER brush. It seems early. 20's? Later.
