Last weekend I made the 10 hour drive to visit my Mom. While I was there I found my Dad's old shaving brush and of course I brought it home with me My Dad passed away 10 years ago so this will be a pretty special brush. It is made by a Canadian company called Simm's, they are still in business but do not make shaving brushes any longer. It has a really nice solid bakelite handle that gives it a nice weight The top screws off which would make it easier to put a new knot in it I am going to use it the way it is for a while, but I think I would like to eventually restore it with a new knot, polish it and make it like new. Pull a 'Hoosier Trooper' on it and make her look as pretty as the day she first made lather.....This is truly a special piece and truly deserves special treatment....So if this was a vote....mine goes for an ultimate restore.... But that sure is a lovely and unique looking brush as she stands...I've never seen one that screws apart like that....kind of has a James Bond's shaving brush' thing going on....

Look forward to seeing it restored. I have never seen a handle like this before either. It truly is a very special brush.

Normally I don't care for that style brush, but this one I do. I really like the two tone colors. I would definitely restore it, but I'd do my homework first so that you don't goof it up. (The voice of experience talking here. A couple of years ago I ruined a nice old brush trying to get the crud off. The stuff I was using was too strong.) Maybe HT can help with what to use and how to do it. In the meantime use it as is, its something from your Dad that will last a life time.

The brush is definitely worth restoring. The top and bottom design along with the two tone color scheme make it an attractive brush. Good luck with the restoration.

Thanks guys! I do plan on doing a restoration on this brush. I have a few more brushes laying around that I plan on practicing on first before I attempt restoring my Dad's brush

Congratulations on getting such a special brush, and a big thanks to your mom for keeping it around.I would definitely use it as is, at least once, in his memory.
And, the bucket of brushes almost gave me sensory overload! Come on man, dig in and get busy!

And I thought I had a few to tackle. I definitely would rehab your father's brush. Whether you use it or not, the memories that it holds is beyond priceless. I use a red tip DE razor that my was my dads. Although she is pretty worn, I wouldn't give it up for all the tea in China.

This blue RUBBERSET is really nice but if you look at the bucket again it looks like this blue one is sitting on top of a two tone (black and white) EverReady 100, just like the one Tom souped up. That's the one I'm on the hunt for. I have a possible lead that I will follow up on Wednesday.
